Job Description

The District Sales Manager will be the primary customer contact within the Southern California region for assigned accounts, responsible for managing and driving sales growth with said accounts. Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, this role focuses on increasing market share for EEMAX, Raypak, Rheem Commercial, and IBC products. Key responsibilities include working with sales agencies, distributors, contractors, and end users, identifying new sales opportunities, conducting product training, and providing ongoing customer support. The role requires collaboration with internal teams, attending industry events, and ensuring alignment with company strategies and directives.

This position will serve West Division Rheem Commercial Water customers in the (Southern California) Region of the U.S., from a home-based office located within the region. Our ideal candidate would be based in Southern California, near a major airport.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Growth & Territory Management: Develop and maintain relationships with agency partners, distributors, contractors, consulting engineers, and end users to drive sales growth within the Southern California region. Ensure effective execution of sales strategies to increase market share for EEMAX, Raypak, Rheem Commercial, and IBC products. Conduct regular reviews of customer sales performance, comparing against budget and identifying areas for growth.
  • Strategic Sales Planning: Collaborate with Regional Sales Manager and Sr. Sales Manager to develop and implement comprehensive sales plans aimed at expanding business and increasing market share. Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Foster strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customers, ensuring their needs are met before, during, and after the sale.
  • Product & Application Training: Conduct training sessions for customers and equipment owners on new and existing products, ensuring proper understanding and usage. Provide on-site training for newly installed systems and offer ongoing product support.
  • Site Visits & Technical Support: Perform site visits to review domestic hot water or hydronic heating systems, providing recommendations for replacement options or addressing site-specific issues. Work closely with the applications engineering teams to size equipment and recommend solutions tailored to customer needs.
  • Solution-Based Sales & Customer Support: Employ a solution-based sales approach to address customer inquiries and challenges. Work with internal departments to provide timely resolutions, especially for urgent or complex issues requiring a higher level of attention.
  • Product Issue Reporting & Feedback: Monitor customer feedback and identify any recurrent product issues. Report findings to quality and engineering teams for continuous improvement. Coordinate voice-of-customer visits to gather insights and feedback on product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Sales Performance & Reporting: Utilize analytical tools like Oracle BI and Tableau to track and analyze customer sales performance. Prepare reports for internal review and customer discussions to ensure sales targets are met and to monitor progress against established goals.
  • Event & Trade Organization Participation: Attend industry trade organization meetings and events to represent the company, build networks, and stay informed about industry trends. Participate in internal company sales meetings and training sessions to ensure alignment with company directives and stay updated on new product offerings.
  • Communication & Policy Updates: Serve as the primary point of communication between the company and customers, effectively conveying new policies, product updates, and strategic changes to ensure consistent understanding and implementation across the territory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  • 5+ years of experience in customer call/direct sales in Plumbing, HVAC or building materials industry.
  • Must be proficient in computer skills (i.e., MS Teams, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, CRM, Business Analytic Software).
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the commercial market.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills--ability to calculate discounts, interests, commissions, & percentages.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Requires self-motivation.
  • Must have the ability to create demand for and sell Rheem products, and develop, maintain and solidify goodwill and customer relations.
  • Must be capable of traveling extensively.
  • Must be willing to reside in or relocate to account zone.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with water heaters, hydronic heating systems, or related products.
  • Knowledge of the Southern California market, including key distributors, contractors, and industry players.

The pay scale for this position in California, New York, or Connecticut is $83,808 - $134,028. Please note all pay ranges are broadly stated and any final offer is dependent on factors such as location, direct experience, market guidance and internal equity, among other qualifying criteria.
