Clinical Data Analyst

Position Summary:

The Clinical Data Analyst will play a critical role in transforming healthcare data into actionable insights that enhance patient care, improve quality and efficiencies while also supporting strategic decision-making. Working in a tech-forward, data-intensive environment, the individual in this role will collect, analyze, and interpret complex healthcare data. Expertise in SQL, data visualization tools, EMRs, and standardized healthcare ontologies are key to this role. This individual will collaborate across teams, leveraging clinical data from EMRs and integrating information from other sources to identify trends and opportunities. Strong skills in data analysis and visualization, along with a solid understanding of healthcare operations, value-based care, quality measures, and clinical data are key to enabling data-informed decisions to support healthcare initiatives. The Clinical Data Analyst collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to build and validate reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that empower stakeholders to make informed data-driven decisions and drive strategy.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ability to extract, validate, and analyze clinical data from EMRs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and seamless integration with the data warehouse. Ensure data integrity by validating data and troubleshooting discrepancies between EMR systems and the data warehouse.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of claims data, ADT data, and other clinical data to uncover trends and insights relevant to patient care and quality improvement.
  • Lead the development and implementation of data-driven solutions through curated data sets, queries, reports, dashboards, and enterprise solutions. Use data visualization and reporting tools to build enterprise data solutions, including dashboards, reports, queries, and other resources.
  • Collaborate with data engineering to enhance data accessibility and usability while ensuring the highest level of data integrity. Conduct and oversee data quality validation efforts and address issues proactively.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build and refine dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that support clinical operations and performance measurement. Evaluate the data and reporting needs of stakeholders to ensure comprehensive, actionable insights. Interpret and present findings in a clear, concise manner to stakeholders, facilitating data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and implement care management team workflows to inform strategies in care management software to support care coordination and pharmacy teams.
  • Function as the subject matter expert in clinical data, providing guidance, interpretation, and training to team members and other stakeholders within the organization.
  • Uphold a strong focus on data integrity and accuracy of deliverables.

Position Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, Public Health or Data Analytics with 1-3 years of experience with clinical data or clinical designations (e.g., BSN, MLT, PharmD) with informatics or information management experience.


Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Analytics, Statistics, or related area.
  • Experience with Accountable Care Organizations and value-based care.


Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

  • Technical Skills: Intermediate to advanced SQL skills for querying and data extraction. Proficient with data visualization and intermediate to advanced experience with reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau or Qlik).
  • Healthcare Knowledge: Solid understanding of clinical data, EMR data structures, claims data, ADT data, quality data, healthcare ontology, and value-based healthcare concepts.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to validate data, identify trends, and support clinical initiatives through data insights.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating data findings into actionable recommendations. Ability to present technical topics to non-technical audience. Experience with cross-team collaboration for troubleshooting and solving complex technical and process issues.
