Snap Finance is seeking an experienced Merchant Underwriter to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and drive underwriting decisions for merchant applications. This role is critical in maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting business growth, and ensuring that merchant operations align with Snap’s standards and policies.

The Job…
As a Merchant Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating merchant applications, performing risk assessments, and escalating complex cases as needed. You will collaborate with multiple teams, ensuring that underwriting criteria meet both compliance and business requirements.

• Risk Assessments: Perform thorough reviews of new merchant applications, evaluating risk and identifying potential compliance concerns.
• Underwriting Decisions: Make informed recommendations based on a balanced assessment of risks and revenue potential, escalating complex cases to leadership when necessary.
• Collaboration: Partner with Compliance, Sales, and onboarding teams to refine underwriting processes, provide feedback, and address escalated cases effectively.
• Process Improvement: Continuously analyze underwriting practices and suggest refinements to criteria and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all underwriting activities meet internal policies and external regulatory standards.

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, with 2-3 years of experience in underwriting, compliance, or risk management. Experience in financial services or working with high-risk scenarios is a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to assess complex risk factors and evaluate detailed business reports or financial data.
• Decision-Making: Proven capacity to make timely, well-documented decisions that balance risk mitigation with business opportunities.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to present underwriting findings and complex decisions to stakeholders at all levels.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM and underwriting tools to streamline processes and improve decision-making efficiency.
