Title: Senior Data Engineer

Location: Remote (AK, AR, AZ, CA, *CO, FL, *HI, IA, ID, IL, KS, LA, MD, MN, MO, MT, NE, NV, NM, NC, ND, OK, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA/DC, *WA, WI & WY only)


Description: The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of ETL. The role will cover full systems development life cycle (SDLC) phases including requirements gathering, data analysis, system design, development, implementation, and post-implementation support. During the design phase, the role will work closely with Data Architects/Models. The developer will be responsible for the ETL movement of data from originating source feeds (files, x12, etc) to target systems (SQL Server, Snowflake) using Data Bricks.

What You Will Do:
  • Collaborates with users, business analysts, developers, database administrators, and project managers on reporting needs.
  • Collaborates with data architect to create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for reporting databases.
  • Implements changes and provides post-implementation user support and system support.
  • Identifies and advocates beneficial change opportunities.
  • Acts as a technical resource for application and data users, data administrators and others.
  • Ensures compliance with client HIPAA, privacy and government security policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Works non-standard hours as required.
  • Works within a standard office environment, with less than 10% travel.
  • Extensive computer work with prolonged periods of sitting.
You Will Be Successful If:
  • Strong knowledge of data warehouse design; data modeling; proficiency with SQL; strong experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL); working knowledge of report and dashboard development; strong knowledge of SQL Server / Snowflake databases; working knowledge of Oracle databases.
  • Ability to solve problems through systematic analysis of processes with sound judgment; has realistic understanding of relevant issues.
  • Ability to organize people or tasks, adjust to priorities, and learn systems within time and/or resource constraints, detail oriented.
  • Prioritize and manage actions to meet changing deadlines and requirements within a high-volume, high-stress environment.
  • Ability to manage large amounts of complex information easily, communicate clearly, and draws sound conclusions.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with multiple activities occurring simultaneously while maintaining focus and control of workflow.
  • Resiliency in adapting to a variety of situations and individuals while maintaining a sense of purpose and mature problem-solving approach is required.
  • Ability to function in a multi-system Microsoft environment using Word, Outlook, client Intranet, the internet, and department software applications.
  • Ability to influence or persuade others under positive or negative circumstances; adapt to different styles; listen critically; collaborate.
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field with programming and database systems coursework or equivalent database development experience
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must be able to receive a favorable Interim and adjudicated final Department of Defense (DoD) background investigation
  • 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role
  • 2+ years of experience with Azure
  • 3+ years of experience developing data integration related source code in Python, R, SQL, or equivalent
  • Experience in ETL with both structured and semi-structured data
  • Experience in gathering business requirements from cross functional teams
  • Experience with SDLC processes and DevOps
  • 2+ years of experience with Data Bricks preferably within Azure Cloud preferred
  • 3+ years of experience with Python preferred
  • Experience with Data Governance
  • Experience with SQL Server and Snowflake in Azure Cloud preferred
  • Experience with x12 data file formats preferred
  • Understanding of ANSI and T-SQL preferred
  • Experience with data analysis in the healthcare industry preferred
