Job Details
The Beef Technology Sales Representative is responsible for generating sales of MICRO technologies to both existing and new customers within an assigned sales territory. The Sales Representative plans and makes sales calls, understanding and selling unique values of all technologies, distinguishing solutions from competitive programs.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Travel throughout an assigned territory, calling on existing and prospective customers, always maintaining a current list of 10 best prospects.
- Builds long-term mutually beneficial relationships with feed yards, consulting veterinary practices, consulting nutritionists, and state livestock associations.
- Presents and demonstrates new technologies to customers and educates them on the features, advantages and benefits of each product. This includes detailing all hardware and software requirements, costs, performance expectations, anticipated savings, updates, ease of use and technical support.
- Quotes prices and credit terms based on target margin objectives, prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
- After establishing customer account, ensures orderly transfer of customer relationship to appropriate customer representative. The Sales Representative will continue to make periodic return calls to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Compile and maintain targets lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from master lists, business directories, industry journals, referrals and other resources.
- Assists field support computer technicians in the installation and/or repair of any technology management system, and assists installation personnel in equipment and machinery installations.
- Acts as secondary support person for all technologies in assigned territory by determining problem areas of equipment and recommending changes which will improve the operation of the systems as well as reducing the cost of servicing and maintaining those systems.
- Coordinates and assists with training of personnel in the use of all technology systems. Participates in sales efforts with the Outside Sales Representatives and Sales/Service Representatives in an assigned territory to pool information about prospective and present customers, jointly making calls on those customers.
- Prepares various reports of business transactions, including accurate and timely expense reporting, sales call reporting, etc.
Experience And Educational Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree with one to three years of outside sales experience is required. If candidate does not have a Bachelor’s degree than a minimum of ten years’ related experience is required. Excellent interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills and a proven ability to sell are necessary. A valid drivers’ license and good driving record are mandatory. Ability to travel overnight on occasion may be up to 50% of the time.
