Job description

Arctic Wolf, with its unicorn valuation, is the leader in security operations in an exciting and fast-growing industry—cybersecurity. We have won countless awards for our excellence in security operations and remain dedicated to providing an industry-leading customer and employee experience.

Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Senior Reporting Analyst to be part of making this happen.

About the role

We’re embarking on building a next generation data and reporting platform to support internal business operations. As part of FinOps Cloud Analytics group, the Senior Reporting Analyst will own the reporting platform used to deliver data and insights to the R&D organization in an efficient and scalable manner. They will use their expertise and love of data to work with internal teams, understand what questions they are trying to answer with data, and design and deploy self-serve reports and dashboards to answer them. This includes exploring, gathering and analyzing data from new and disparate sources, owning the reporting lifecycle from requirements gathering to design POC to delivery, and working with stakeholders to evolve report offerings as needed. Our ideal candidate enjoys designing and implementing new reporting solutions to meet business needs, has experience working with large and disparate data sets, appreciates the challenge of applying highly complex business contexts, and is passionate about developing automated technical solutions for data problems. This role is a key member of our FinOps team, and you will ultimately increase the effectiveness and integrity of project reporting and documentation, and ensure that colleagues have the metrics they need to make data-driven decisions.

Your responsibilities include

  • Lead building and maintaining our AWS Quicksight BI reporting platform to deliver self-serve reports to internal users.
  • Report design and development; including working with stakeholders to understand reporting needs, identifying appropriate metrics, determining sources of data, incorporating relevant benchmarks/targets and designing and iterating on report POCs.
  • Work with multiple platform teams to build customized dashboards for our applications, products, and services.
  • Focusing on automation and reducing repeated manual tasks. Transforming report POCs into codified self-serve reports that can be accessed as needed, ensuring processes are sustainable and scalable.
  • Defining and implementing approaches to ensure data and reports are accurate, complete and deliver reliable insights. Proactively identifying and resolving data issues across systems to ensure reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Performing analysis of metrics to identify trends and areas of immediate concern, escalating to the appropriate audience as necessary.
  • Using your data expertise to support other teams with ad-hoc data exploration and analysis.
  • Summarizing and presenting data findings, recommendations, and methodology to senior leadership, department leadership and enterprise stakeholders.
  • Acting as our own stakeholder, applying learnings from reports and analytics to our own team and fostering an environment of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Promoting a culture of responsible data practices and data quality across the organization.

About you

  • Significant experience building out AWS Quicksight visualizations, analyses, and dashboards.
  • Strong understanding of window/analytic calculations and aggregate functions and can effectively utilize them in calculated fields to derive insights.
  • Substantial SQL and query optimization experience. You are comfortable working with large datasets.
  • Passion for data analysis and extracting insights and recommendations to drive improvements across many teams.
  • Comfortable using both logic and creative thinking to solve diverse business problems.
  • You work equally well with technical and non-technical colleagues. You show professionalism dealing with all levels of the organization, from entry level to executive.
  • Strong experience turning vague requirements and questions into meaningful data visualization that are easy to interpret and gain insight from.
  • Expert understanding of tools and technology used to extract, manipulate and analyze data.
  • Strive to reduce manual toil and automate repeated reporting tasks.
  • Keep data security and privacy front of mind in all of your work.
  • Comfortable accessing and working with data from multiple sources and have an internal drive to answer “why” questions.
  • You are a self-starter, are comfortable with ambiguity, digging into new projects that don’t have a clear run book and have meticulous attention to detail. You are able to manage multiple conflicting priorities from different parts of the organization.
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge and experience with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence, or other project and issue management tooling is a bonus.
