JOB TITLE: Senior Piping Designer

LOCATION: Remote/WFH

TRAVEL: Minimal travel may be required to conduct site visits or attend meetings at the Agency’s offices.

JOB DESCRIPTION
iParametrics is seeking a highly skilled Senior Piping Designer for an exciting opportunity with a leading firm recognized for its award-winning architecture, engineering, planning, construction management, and environmental services. Our client has been delivering professional solutions to clients throughout the U.S. and globally for nearly 60 years. In this role, you will utilize your extensive experience in AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar 3D pipe modeling software to lead and design piping systems for projects in the chemicals, oil and gas, pulp and paper, or power generation markets. This remote position offers the flexibility to work from home with travel as needed, supported by per diems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Expertise in design and drafting standards, preferably in Process Industrial facilities and/or Life Science facilities.
  • Leading projects, including defining project scope, specifications, and design criteria.
  • Leading a team of designers.
  • Developing and drafting moderately complex piping drawings using basic information such as P&ID’s, GA’s, piping specifications, and equipment drawings.
  • Performing field design work to ascertain current conditions, locate new systems, communicate with client personnel, and assist in construction.
  • Preparing material take-offs from piping drawings.
  • Planning and managing site design activities for optimum results.
  • Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.
  • Providing on-site assistance during startup.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical/piping drafting and design.
  • Knowledge and application of piping materials.
  • Knowledge and application of piping supports and restraints.
  • Knowledge of manual valve sizing, use, and application.
  • Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.
  • Ability to create accurate mechanical/piping installation documents from vendor equipment drawings.
  • Understanding of workflow/information flow between disciplines.
  • Understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all mechanical/piping deliverables.
  • Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively in virtual teams and develop cross-divisional relationships, providing interoffice execution support under general supervision.

As a W2 employee of iParametrics, team members are eligible for benefits such as medical, dental and vision, and the company matching 401K plan, subject to plan terms and applicable waiting periods. Compensation for this position is $100-150K, based on experience, background, and skills.
