Job description

LPA is seeking a passionate Mechanical Project Engineer to join our integrated team of architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects and master planners. As a member of our civil engineering team, you will work on a broad range of projects from office, education and recreation buildings to complex laboratories, health care facilities, and performing arts centers.  You will join a high-performing, multi-disciplinary design team, and you will impact projects at each stage of design.  We offer numerous education and mentoring opportunities including software training, tech talks, and monthly LPA-U courses centered around innovative and sustainable design practices. What you will do:

  • Design of complete mechanical systems, distribution and controls for a variety of building types.

  • Develop Revit models detailing mechanical systems, distribution, schedules and details.

  • Develop of analysis model to calculate cooling/heating loads and determine energy compliance.

  • Survey as-built conditions and determine impact of mechanical design.

  • Research code and jurisdictional regulations, products, sustainable criteria and construction methods.

  • Coordinate and prepare documentation for schematic design, design development and/or construction documents and oversee compliance with Revit standards.

  • Respond to plan check comments and attend plan review meetings.

  • Support Project Leaders in the review of construction phase submittals and the response to Requests for Information (RFIs).

  • Perform construction field site visits to review mechanical system installation.

  • Participate in the integrated design process, working with other disciplines at LPA, and resolve issues with mechanical components.

  • Continued development of mechanical system knowledge through training and self-guided research.

  • Develop and update tools and standards to increase personal and team productivity.

Mechanical Project Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) License

  • 4-7 years of experience in mechanical engineering and the design of building HVAC systems

  • Enthusiastic commitment to the multidisciplinary design process and team environment

  • Curious and open minded to learn

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this position is $87,000 - $145,000 and is eligible for an annual bonus. If you are hired at LPA, your base salary is based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience and/or project complexity. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
