Our work depends on Cyber Engineer Sr Advisor joining our team to support the division CISO/VP in the security management of GDIT systems that operate independently from GD/GDI corporate.    As an ISSO there is significant collaborative component between the System Owner/Data Owner and the System/Security Administrator on behalf of the CISO to ensure the cyber requirements are met and documentation accurately reflects the operational/development environment.

HOW A CYBER ENGINEER SR ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
An Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) has many duties and responsibilities, that directly protect and influence the business/delivery of programs.

  • Developing and maintaining cybersecurity relevant documentation (architecture, SSP, CMDB, etc...) and support CISO Team meetings and compliance data calls. 
  • Conducting cyber risk assessments: ISSOs conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate threats to an organization prior to security relevant changes. 
  • Providing GDIT security guidance: ISSOs provide employees with GDIT guidance on cybersecurity best practices. 
  • CISO Team Collaboration: ISSOs are the primary point of contact for cybersecurity questions and needs and coordinating with the CISO team as needed. 
  • Preparing cybersecurity status reports: ISSOs prepare reports on the status of cybersecurity safeguards applied to their respective environments.
  • Incident Response: ISSOs are a focal point for the CISO team when conducting early investigations for alerts from cybersecurity tools (Qualys, CrowdStrike, ect..) and investigations conducted by the GCIO Threat Hunt Team. 
  • Vulnerability Management: The ISSOs manage the Vulnerability Management process and execute the function for the program/lab to include participation as a voting member of the ERB/CCB and elevate Critical/High vulnerabilities to the CISO Team.
  • POA&M Management: The ISSOs work with stakeholders to remediate POA&Ms and report status to the CISO Team.

  • Continuous Monitoring support: ISSOs will support the CONMON activities ensuring scope of formal approvals (IATO, ATO) are maintained, supports CISO data calls and contributes to the CISO CONMON reporting data calls/

ISSO Skillsets:

  • Experience working with Risk Management Frameworks (RMF) or Industrial/Corporate Cybersecurity (ISSO/ISSM) for cloud or on-prem COCO/GOGO/GOCO environments. Familiar with the required artifacts to support a formal authorization decision (IATO/IATT/ATO) and if provided instruction can populate required artifacts for an environment for submission for AO/AODR approval. Has 3-5 Years of cyber or IT experience and has or is in process of attaining a recognized cyber or IT certification and/or has a cybersecurity or STEM degree.

● Required Technical Skills: working knowledge of DoD and/or IC application of security controls from a NIST perspective


● Security Clearance Level: TOP SECRET

● Required Skills and Abilities: Cyber Security Managemgment / Dod 8570.1/8140 IAT Level III 
● Preferred Skills: Task Management

● Location: Remote, some travel to DC Metro Region 
● Due to need for Top Secret security clearance, US Citizenship is required

The likely salary range for this position is $140,250 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
