Job Description

The Development Security Operations Architect is responsible for defining, implementing, and overseeing the integration of security best practices into the development and operations pipelines. It acts as a strategic leader, collaborating with cross-functional teams to shape and elevate the organization’s security posture while driving the adoption of modern Development Security Operations Architect practices. This is a high-impact role that requires deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and leadership capabilities to architect and deliver secure, scalable, and efficient systems

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following but are not limited to the job specifications contained herein.  Additional duties or job functions that can be performed safely may be required as deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and execute the overarching Development Security and Operations strategy, embedding security deeply into all stages of the development, testing, and deployment processes.

  • Provide leadership and direction on all security matters, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Act as a thought leader, advocating for security-first approaches across the organization and promoting the adoption of cutting-edge security solutions and best practices.

Architectural Oversight:

  • Architect and implement secure CI/CD pipelines, ensuring the integration of automated security tools and practices across all development stages.

  • Design and enforce security architectures that are aligned with modern cloud environments.

  • Oversee the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions with a focus on secure configuration and deployment.

Technical Leadership:

  • Serve as a technical authority in security automation, providing mentorship and guidance to the engineering, operations, and security teams.

  • Implement advanced security controls for application security, including static and dynamic code analysis, penetration testing, and runtime security.

  • Lead the continuous improvement of security monitoring, vulnerability management, and incident response processes, leveraging automation where possible.

  • Risk and Compliance Management:

  • Ensure compliance with industry security standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR), and lead efforts to maintain compliance and regulatory alignment across all environments.

  • Conduct security risk assessments and threat modeling, identifying potential vulnerabilities and gaps, and implementing mitigating strategies

  • Foster a proactive security culture through ongoing education, training, and awareness initiatives for the development and operations teams.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Partner with senior leadership, product teams, and other stakeholders to align security initiatives with business goals.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure security is considered at every stage of the software development lifecycle, from initial design through to post-deployment.

  • Communicate complex security concepts and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring understanding and buy-in at all levels of the organization.

Leadership and Communication:

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor technical staff.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to a diverse audience, including executive leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and promote the adoption of secure development and operational practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of security principles, best practices, and technologies, including threat modeling, security automation, vulnerability management, and incident response.

  • Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS + Azure), containerization (Kubernetes + Docker), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform + Ansible)

  • Proficiency with security tools such as static/dynamic analysis tools, vulnerability scanners, and SIEM platforms.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI)

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor technical staff.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to a diverse audience, including executive leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and promote the adoption of secure development and operational practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, information Technology, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in DevO, Development Security and Operations, or Security Architecture roles, with a focus on large-scale enterprise environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant security certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified DevOps Security Expert (CDPSE), or GIAC certifications

  • Experience in regulatory compliance and risk management frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOX).

  • Prior experience in leading DevSecOps transformations at the enterprise level.

Salary Range

Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.

$132,090.00 - $220,150.00
