What you will be doing in the role of a Financial Analyst

Serves as a financial analyst contributing to a cross-functional Susan G. Komen financial analysis and reporting team.  Consults with and supports Komen staff to assist in maintaining proper financial data and information.  Manages financial matters including follow-up and proactive communication for assigned organizational areas.  Performs duties including, but not limited to, ensuring that financial activities comply with GAAP and IRS guidelines, collaborating with team to develop and implement organizational support plans, reviewing and reconciling financial information, creating training and communication initiatives for development teams, and providing high-level strategic analysis. Assists with reviews of Financial Analyst I work related documents and additional review as needed. 

What you will bring to the table

  • Serve as the financial point of contact and consultant for assigned organizational areas. 
  • Perform thorough analysis of assigned organizational financials on a monthly basis and during year-end review, including preparation and review of monthly variance reports, financial statements, and Accounts Receivable Aging, and review of financial-related tasks including Restricted Revenues and Event reconciliations to ensure all financial activity is properly accounted for and corrected as needed. 
  • Ensure that accounting records adhere to GAAP and IRS requirements and stay within Komen guidelines. 
  • Collaborate as a core member of a team of cross-functional professionals to develop and prepare an annual budget and quarterly forecasts that is customized to meet the needs of assigned organizational areas. 
  • Consult with assigned organizational personnel in development of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and monthly analysis of budget or forecast variances and problem resolutions in moderately challenging situations. 
  • Suggest ideas for continuous improvement and seek continuous professional development by attending internal and external training, reviewing trade/industry updates, and performing research as needed. 
  • Prepare and analyze audit and tax schedules, as needed, in support of internal and external audits and tax return preparation. 
  • Assist with the review of Finance Analyst 1 work including sponsorship reconciliations, monthly financial analysis, budget and forecasting preparation, and additional review as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

We know you will have and be able to

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance or Accounting, or the equivalent with 3-5 years of direct experience in a not-for-profit environment.  
  • Knowledge of MS Office products, including advanced skills in Excel, and Financial Reporting/ERP software.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and determine root causes of problems and implications of financial and business activities in moderately complex distributed organizations.  Recognizes problems to be solved and applies an effective problem-solving process. 
  • Must exhibit effective interpersonal and inter-group behaviors in a variety of situations and circumstances to collaborate and work in teams. Must model the ability to influence, educate, and motivate a diverse group of people. Solid written and verbal communications skills required, with polished presentation skills. Willingness to take personal responsibility for the outcomes resulting from his/her judgment, recommendations, and solutions.

Approximate salary $56,000 to $75,000/annually, exact compensation ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job level, internal equity and budget. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's skills, experience and geographic location.
