Position:    Payroll and Benefits Specialist 
Reports to:    Country People & Culture Manager
Location:     Montreal, Quebec

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING.

Reporting to the Country & People Culture Manager, you’ll ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while managing benefits programs with ease and efficiency. As the go-to expert, you’ll provide reliable, stress-free support for all things payroll and perks.

You offer continuous tactical and practical support to employees and company leaders based on your expertise in:

Payroll:

  • Process payroll for employees in Canada and the USA, ensuring accurate pay calculations in line with contracts, policies, and laws.
  • Validate end-of-year payroll processes, including tax forms and reports.

People Support:

  • Resolve payroll and benefits-related issues, providing timely and efficient assistance.
  • Present payroll and benefits information during onboarding sessions.

Benefits:

  • Educate employees on company benefits programs and ensure data integrity across systems.
  • Validate and process group insurance invoices monthly.

HRIS Support:

  • Manage employee hires and changes in HR and payroll systems accurately and promptly.
  • Validate and maintain accurate data in HRIS and POS systems.

Other:

  • Stay current on payroll and benefits laws to ensure compliance.
  • Contribute to projects improving payroll, insurance, and benefits processes.

WHO YOU ARE.

We are looking for an individual with a positive and energetic attitude, who thrives in a role that requires you to work on and prioritize multiple tasks at the same time. We hire for mindset and train for skills, but it would be great, if you bring the following to the table:

  • 1–3 years of experience in payroll and benefits, with knowledge of hourly and salaried payroll processes.
  • Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation (an asset).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, HRIS systems, and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with fluency in English and French as you will deal with team members from across Canada.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, work independently or collaboratively, and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on organization and ensuring policy compliance.
