What you’ll do:
The Lead Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Analyst will ensure IT Resilience and Business Continuity by advising the IT and Product Engineering teams in their technical design and architecture to identify IT risks and vulnerabilities and enable the organization to mitigate disruptions while ensuring availability of core solutions, systems and products that are critical to the continuation of the business.
This position will work across the TSG (Technical Services Group) organization to perform technical assessment and testing of the design and architecture of the solutions/systems implemented and the products developed to ensure they are in-line with the high availability or continuity requirements for the business. Conduct periodic impact analysis against the customer contract SLAs for availability and incorporate these assessment and analysis results into the business continuity and disaster recovery plans that will allow the organization to quickly restore routine service operations and minimize application-related incidents in business operations.
The primary responsibility will be identifying, developing, and implementing solutions and processes designed to prevent and quickly resolve incidents that threaten our systems that delivers the products to our customers. Build a strong Disaster Recovery capability for all the solutions, systems and products developed/used in HMH to build a foundation for the larger enterprise-wide Business Continuity Plan.
As a technical leader of HMH’s BC/DR function, you will provide executive level risk reporting and ensure that assessments are executed to proactively identify risk and control needs to support business, sales, and revenue objectives while maintaining alignment with existing information security and BC/DR standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical risk assessments and impact analysis to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities to the organization's operations and assets, integrate these assessment results into the Business Impact analysis to develop a comprehensive Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.
- Develop and document BC/DR plans, technical strategies, and availability solutions for various scenarios and levels of severity.
- Ensure that all TSG & IT Groups have a comprehensive continuity and availability design/architecture to maintain the ‘High Availability’ SLAs impose from the customer contracts.
- Periodically assess and test the design/architecture to ensure that they support a quick turnaround during a disaster scenario and incorporate the design in the disaster recovery plan.
- Coordinate and conduct testing, training, and exercises to validate and improve the BC/DR plans and capabilities.
- Monitor and report on the status and effectiveness of TSG & IT’s recovery and availability capabilities as an integral component of the BC/DR program and initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to the management and staff or TSG & IT on BC/DR best practices and standards.
- Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as IT, Product Engineering, InfoSec, and vendors to ensure alignment and compliance with HMH’s TSG & IT Groups BC/DR objectives and requirements.
- Analyze internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.

What you’ll need:
- Strong knowledge of high availability designs in traditional datacenter and cloud environment for the products and solutions hosted.
- Strong knowledge of monolithic application architecture (legacy systems) and the microservice based distributed application architecture (modern product design).
- Strong knowledge disaster recovery and business continuity frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
- Proficient in using disaster recovery and business continuity tools and software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal / written communications.
- Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
