Location: Sao Paulo, Brazil

Finance Overview:

In light of our recent licence application in Brazil, we are looking to expand our finance team to help continue to grow and support the International Division of the Flutter Entertainment group and allow the team to take on this exciting new challenge.

Overview of the role:

As the Finance Manager, you will have ownership of the accounting, reporting and ensuring compliance with the control environment for Betfair Brasil Ltda. Reporting to the Head of Integration and Transformation, other periodic responsibilities will include contributing towards Group reporting packs, financial statements, translation to US GAAP and dealing with internal/external stakeholders.

This role is a critical position in our Betfair Brasil Ltda team to ensure we meet reporting requirements while implementing a robust controls environment.

The successful candidate will be heavily involved in working with the finance business partnering team in the creation of month end accounts for our business units in addition to their responsibilities for external financial reporting obligations. In addition to this, the successful candidate will be involved in the continued enhancing of processes and controls in line with the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX), to support our recent US listing and to promote a best in class control environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Take ownership of the month end accounting for Betfair Brasil Ltda.

  • Manage the accounts payable and payments process in line with agreed procedures and controls.

  • Act as the point of contact for our financial and payment institutions.

  • Assist with the setting up and implementation of the Oracle ERP system.

  • Liaise and work alongside the Outsourcing Company to ensure local accounting and regulatory requirements are met, particularly in relation to our taxation obligations.

  • Close month end processes within required timelines for assigned channels including the preparation and review of general ledger entries.

  • Post monthly journals ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with SOX requirements.

  • Operate a robust cost accruals process to ensure that costs are correctly accrued within the time constraints of a fast-close environment through use of automation where possible.

  • Review all significant variances within areas of responsibility for investigation and analysis to report back to Head of Integration and Transformation, or others as appropriate.

  • Compare effective results to budget/forecast and analyse differences between them, providing inputs to collaborate reducing costs and improving revenues.

  • Oversee the maintenance and improvement of internal controls.

  • Supporting in audit planning, preparation and audit queries and dealing with stakeholders.

  • Take responsibility for the Flutter International group recharge accounting working in unison with the transfer pricing team and central Flutter Group

  • Take responsibility for accounting entries and disclosure of tax workings in conjunction with the Flutter International tax team

  • Other ad-hoc projects including support on the onboarding and integration of further businesses as the Division pursues inorganic growth opportunities.

What you’ll bring:

Essential:

  • Fully qualified with one of the recognised accountancy bodies (CRC or CRA)

  • Fluent in both Portuguese and English

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Brazilian Accounting Practices and financial reporting for Group companies

  • Good understanding of control environment relating to financial reporting

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders to include explaining complex accounting issues to non-accountants

  • Demonstrable excellent organisation skills

  • An ability to deliver high quality work under pressure of tight deadlines

  • Strong academic credentials (e.g. honours degree) and experience operating in a similar environment

  • Good team player with an ability to work independently.

  • Excellent time management skills

  • A driven, energetic and proactive individual who has a desire for continuous improvement and advancement.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a SOX regulated environment or highly regulated industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP and ability to apply it in practice.

  • US GAAP accounting experience

  • Experience preparing technical accounting memos

  • Experience working in the finance department of a multinational environment.

  • Prior knowledge of Oracle accounting packages.

  • Experience in the gaming industry and gaming systems.

  • Technical knowledge and prior experience of dealing with accounting for acquisition and financing transactions
