Job description

The Job

The Head of Enterprise Application Management is responsible for leading the functional and technical teams managing the company’s core enterprise systems of record, including SAP S/4HANA, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). In addition to managing delivery within these systems, the role oversees the coordination of integration and functional alignment with non-SAP systems, such as digital sales tools. managed under the Head of Digital Solutions.
While non-SAP systems follow agile delivery models with frequent production releases, the Head of Enterprise Application Management ensures seamless integration with enterprise systems through loosely coupled interfaces. The position also plays a critical role in ensuring resource availability, adherence to clean core principles, and high-quality delivery of internal projects and operational enhancements.
Reporting to the Director of Business Processes and Technology, the role collaborates extensively with key IT and business leaders, including the PMO, Business Process Owners (BPOs), and the Head of Digital Solutions.

Your Mission

Functional and Development Delivery

  • Lead a cross-functional team 8 internal and 15 external consultants. of 5 internal SAP consultants, 1 lead SAP developer, 1 PLM application owner, 1 WMS functional consultant, 1 integration consultant, and 15 external consultants to deliver high-quality enhancements and solutions for enterprise systems;
  • Coordinate closely with the Head of Digital Solutions and the digital tools team to ensure effective integration and functional compatibility of loosely coupled interfaces between SAP and non-SAP systems;
  • Ensure functional consultants adopt clean core principles and deliver best practices for system design and development.
     

Integration and Cross-System Coordination

  • Oversee the planning and management of interfaces between SAP and non-SAP systems (e.g., digital sales tools), ensuring minimal disruption and optimal data flow;
  • Collaborate with the Head of Digital Solutions to align integration priorities with sprint-based release schedules;
  • Identify and resolve cross-system dependency issues, maintaining the integrity of both SAP and non-SAP environments.
     

Team Leadership and Capacity Planning

  • Directly manage the internal team and external consultants, ensuring adequate resource allocation for both SAP and non-SAP related delivery needs;
  • Plan for skill development and team growth to address the evolving requirements of both enterprise and digital systems;
  • Foster a collaborative environment where SAP and non-SAP teams work cohesively to deliver business value.
     

Strategic Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a sparring partner for Business Process Owners (BPO’s) and key users, aligning application delivery with business needs and strategic goals;
  • Partner with the PMO to ensure project timelines, resource needs, and delivery objectives are met;
  • Work with IT and business leaders to ensure integration and application delivery strategies support broader organizational goals.
     

Application Lifecycle Management

  • Plan and oversee application lifecycle activities, including upgrades, renewals, and system enhancements, with a focus on the SAP S/4HANA upgrade from version 2020 to 2023 in 2024;
  • Transition to a new managed services partner for SAP S/4HANA, ensuring improved service delivery and operational stability;
  • Define and maintain governance processes for changes across both SAP and non-SAP systems.
     

Operational Excellence

  • Monitor and improve the performance and reliability of enterprise systems while ensuring alignment with the agile delivery model of digital sales tools;
  • Develop and track KPIs to evaluate the success of both SAP-related and cross-system delivery efforts;
  • Proactively address operational issues and reduce system downtime.

Your Talent

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams of functional consultants, developers, and external vendors in global organizations with complex business and IT landscapes;
  • Expertise in SAP S/4HANA lifecycle management, integration, and system enhancements;
  • Certifications in SAP (e.g., SAP Activate, SAP Certified Application Associate) and integration technologies are a plus;
  • Familiarity with loosely coupled integrations and coordinating between SAP and non-SAP systems (e.g., digital tools with agile delivery models);
  • Strong knowledge of clean core principles, SAP best practices, and integration methodologies;
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills to bridge functional, technical, and business stakeholders;
  • Proficiency in capacity planning, resource management, and cross-system coordination;
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on operational efficiency and system optimization.

This role is based in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. Working remotely from other countries is not possible.

To be considered for this position, you must be legally authorized to work in the Netherlands without the need for a work permit.
