Mainframe Senior Support Engineer

Job location: Warsaw or remote

Job scope/summary:

The Mainframe Senior Support Engineer is responsible for delivering operational services to outsourcing accounts on time, on target with quality. The main goal is to minimize the amount of unplanned downtime in the customer's production environment and to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. He/she works in close relationship with other teams and is under direct supervision by the team management.

We require:

  • Expertise in one of the following disciplines
    • z/OS Mainframes (LPAR concept, SYSPLEX concept)
    • SMP/E
    • Databases: Adabas, DB2, DBA or IDMS
    • Storage management software and hardware - DASD and tape management, Catalogs, VSAM, DFSMS
    • MiddleWare: IMS, CICS, MQ
    • Mainframe Network
  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems or equivalent certifications (MCSE, MCP, Oracle/MCDBA, DXC-UX, CCNA, CCNP, SNIA).
  • Preferably 10+ years’ experience within IT Operations, infrastructure services support
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ hands-on technical knowledge of the applicable technology platform
  • Fluent in English language
  • Excellent knowledge of IT Operations, infrastructure services support (Systems NT, UX, Storage, Backups, DB’s or Network management), operations monitoring and end user support.
  • Excellent understanding of ITSM/ITIL processes

Job specifics/responsibilities:

  • Collaboration & Relationship Building: Work closely with the Team Technology Lead, Account Support Team, and other support teams.
  • Customer Knowledge: Maintain a deep understanding of the customer’s business, environment, and support processes.
  • Incident Management: Follow ITIL standards, proactively addressing service issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain and update technical documentation and ensure compliance with internal standards.
  • Quality & Compliance: Participate in quality and productivity projects, ensuring process compliance.
  • Technical Support & Training: Provide technical consultation, training, and lead workshops. Keep up with mandatory training requirements.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Management: Conduct deep-level troubleshooting, participate in Root Cause Analysis, and manage problem lifecycles.
  • Change & Configuration Management: Implement and plan changes, participate in advisory boards, and maintain Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Project Management: Implement technical projects related to the responsible platform/technology.
