Job description

We are seeking a Controller for a full-time and direct hire role for one of our amazing partners in Virginia. This is a hybrid role, but they are open to remote candidates that can travel once a month as well.


They are looking for an experienced Controller to drive their financial operations, financial reporting, and financial planning and analysis. You will lead the accounting team and create new accounting processes and procedures to drive efficiency and accuracy across multiple business units. You will collaborate with all company divisions to craft budgets, metrics and other reporting for internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead accounting and financial analysis by assisting in the preparation and monitoring of their actual performance against the current budget and business plan.
  • Prepare cash flow statements and assess ongoing working capital metrics and liquidity needs.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing process to ensure efficiency and accuracy. This includes producing consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Coordinate directly with the international part of the business to ensure accurate and timely consolidation of financial statements and other processes.
  • Ensure timely billing and invoicing of all revenue and proper accounting treatment of revenue recognition.
  • Monitor and maintain all subsidiary ledgers for customer activities and ensure timely collection.
  • Ensure timely reporting of all taxes with the appropriate authorities and timely reporting of monthly financial information for the executives and Board of Directors.
  • Reporting and tax compliance to Oversee all payroll and tax activities, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and filings.
  • Interface with external auditors as well as providing PBC information and schedules.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce adequate internal controls and processes to ensure effective control and reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Work with leadership on contracts management and workflow process related to various revenue streams.
  • Identify and lead initiatives to automate and streamline accounting operations.


Requirements:

  • Experience as a Controller working for a company with multiple business units.
  • 8-10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity
  • Experience with NetSuite and leveraging tools to enable automation wherever possible
  • Experience creating new accounting processes and procedures.
  • CPA required
  • Solid operational and technical accounting skills with demonstrated ASC 606 revenue recognition and consolidation experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public accounting experience with a Big 4 or nationally recognized accounting firm
  • FP&A Experience
  • Systems Integration Experience
  • B2B Consulting, Logistics or High-Growth SaaS Company industry experience
  • International subsidiary experience and ability to create consolidated financial statements
  • Masters in business administration
