Job description

The goal of  BarkleyORKP is to build the most forward-thinking media brand’s in the US. The EVP, Director of Media Planning will play a critical role in that, building and leading the media planning team. This person will be responsible for establishing and leading a new planning group, merging the media and other teams from across Barkley and AdLucent into a new media planning and buying brand that will sit within BarkleyOKRP. This role will work with leadership to design the overall planning philosophy and process for the agency and implementing across clients. The EVP, Media Planning will drive growth across organic and new biz, and will also act as a one of the Media/Analytics/CRM arm’s (brand name TBD) group’s executive leaders.
This role requires a visionary leader who can devise a way to plan media in today’s modern media landscape, create scalable processes, foster a high-performance team, and develop integrated media strategies that align with clients' objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership and Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing media planning and account team through the integration of existing teams, as well as hiring new ones.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop talent within the media and account management departments.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative team culture focused on delivering exceptional client outcomes.
  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities within the media planning and account teams.

2. Planning  Development

  • Work closely with key leaders to design and implement the overall media planning framework – one that combines strategic planning and data driven methodologies.
  • Implement that framework and establish the processes and best practices for the agency that balances quality media, high level innovation, efficient decision making, and measurable results.
  • Collaborate with the Comms/Strategy, Investments/Activation, Analytics, Creative, Tech, Operations, CRM, and other necessary teams to implement the planning process.

3. Client Strategy & Relationships

  • Oversee all key media accounts and the SVP, Media Directors running those businesses.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with senior clients.
  • Work closely with BarkleyOKRP’s Client Experience team, managing the relationships across all major accounts and
  • Institute and manage a process for determining the health and opportunity of every major media client.

4. Business Development & Growth

  • Help lead new business pitches – from helping answer RFI’s/RFP’s, to developing strategic approaches for each pitch, to delivering winning presentations.
  • Help establish a pitch process and overall agency narrative for pitch consultants and potential clients.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities with current clients, developing deeper relationships and uncovering new revenue streams.
  • Participate in industry events and PR, showcasing the agency at the forefront of industry thinking.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in media planning, account management, or a similar role in a fast-paced media or advertising agency environment.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to build and manage a high-performing team.
