Job description

Job Summary 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Web Maintenance Specialist to oversee the upkeep, functionality, and optimization of our websites. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless user experiences by performing regular updates, troubleshooting issues, and implementing necessary improvements to maintain performance and security. 
 

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Website Updates and Content Management 

    • Regularly update website content, images, and multimedia. 

    • Ensure information is accurate, relevant, and aligned with branding guidelines. 

  2. Performance Monitoring and Optimization 

    • Monitor website speed, functionality, and user experience. 

    • Optimize website performance for mobile and desktop platforms. 

  3. Troubleshooting and Debugging 

    • Identify and resolve website errors, broken links, and bugs. 

    • Troubleshoot technical issues promptly to minimize downtime. 

  4. Security and Compliance 

    • Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard websites from threats. 

    • Ensure websites comply with relevant industry regulations and accessibility standards (e.g., GDPR, ADA). 

  5. Backup and Recovery 

    • Perform regular backups of website files and databases. 

    • Develop and maintain a disaster recovery plan to ensure business continuity. 

  6. Collaborative Efforts 

    • Work with developers, designers, and stakeholders to implement updates and new features. 

    • Coordinate with hosting providers to resolve server-related issues. 

  7. Reporting and Documentation 

    • Maintain logs of website updates, incidents, and changes. 

    • Generate reports on website traffic, performance, and user feedback. 

Qualifications and Skills 

1. Educational Background: 

  • ​​​​​​​Bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

2. Technical Skills: 

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Joomla). 

  • Familiarity with website hosting platforms and server configurations. 

  • Experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g., Google Analytics, PageSpeed Insights). 
  • ​​​​​​​Knowledge of security protocols, SSL, and website encryption. 

​​​​​​​3. Soft Skills: 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. 

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills. 
     

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with website migration and domain management. 

  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and tools. 

  • Familiarity with automation tools for routine tasks.
