Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide reconciliation support for The Office of Financial Aid. The
specialist is responsible for a variety of financial aid program reconciliations, monthly and year-end
program reconciliations. The specialist is also responsible for verifying that related transactions are
properly reported to the COD and NSLDS Systems within the prescribed regulatory timeframes. This
position reports to the Financial Services Manager and assists with administering financial aid programs
in accordance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities
I. Supports Reconciliation Process for the Office of Financial Services
Administers monthly reconciliation of all Title IV programs
Works with applicable USDE (COD, NSLDS, G5, etc.) and CampusVue systems to perform
reconciliation
Works closely with CRC Accounting and the Financial Services Disbursements team to ensure
accuracy in record keeping and timely processing of student loan disbursements
Daily Balancing of the Federal Financial Aid Ledger
Daily and Weekly Reconciles Education Payment Statement to cash flow
Weekly verification that all accounts are in balance with Funds Management Report, Cash Flow,
and COD
Verify General Ledger cash accounts tied to bank statements
II. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and federal regulations
Thoroughly document reconciliation results for audit purposes
Ensure timely and accurate transmittal of data to the Department of Education including but not
limited to: disbursing aid to student accounts, clearing rejects and errors, and originating loans
Coordinate and complete semi-annual internal and required external financial aid audits
Supports the Director in the execution of all audits and program reviews
III. Manages Accounting Activities for the Federal Work-Study process
Responsible for the drawing of federal funds
Management of the Federal Work-Study process as applies to the accounting department
IV. Supports the Office of Financial Services
Seek opportunities to gain knowledge and implement more effective and efficient processes
Other duties as assigned by the Financial Services Manager and Director of Financial Services
Experience Required:
Minimum:
· HS Diploma or equivalent, or a Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar field from an accredited institution
or equivalent work experience
· Demonstrated experience with billing systems, specifically student accounts
Preferred:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar field from an accredited institution
· Working knowledge of federal/state government education regulations
· 1 to 3 years of related experience working in a higher education environment
