Job description

Job Description:

The Clinical Business Development role focuses on educating and training non-O&P professionals involved in the patient journey. These professionals may include specialty physicians, occupational therapists, certified hand therapists, and case managers, all working towards helping patients achieve the highest level of function with upper limb prostheses. To achieve this goal, this role will assist with prosthetist and therapeutic teams, provide treatment as part of fittings, and engage in outcomes data gathering.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Sales and Marketing team to plan and execute initiatives that align with Ossur’s Upper Limb Strategy.
  • Developing clinical education platforms and content for internal and external stakeholders in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education.
  • Operates as part of our clinical education team and takes direction from Sales Director on targets and priorities.
  • Provide formal and informal education to a variety of stakeholders in the medical profession specializing in partial and full hand amputation and rehabilitation with particular emphasis on growing the fitting rate of partial hand amputee fittings.
  • Support customers within the clinical team in Developing goals and a treatment plan with client input.
  • Perform appropriate evaluations for individuals with limb loss/deficiency, including ROM, MMT, Myoelectric site testing, ADL function, Skin/Wound/Scar assessment, Pain assessment, Cognitive assessments, Musculoskeletal function, and other standardized and general assessments as needed.
  • Help clients develop or regain function by practicing functional, prevocational, vocational, homemaking skills, activities of daily living, sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities
  • Promote maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to the individual's physical capacity, cognitive ability, and interest
  • Address psychosocial concerns for individuals dealing with limb loss/deficiency
  • Use video conference tools to assist local prosthetists and therapists with evaluating clients and training users
  • Document services appropriately in company systems
  • Provide sales and marketing support by presenting at various local, state, and national forums
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on all Össur Upper Limb products and appropriate therapy protocols
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and certification/license requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Contributes to the organization by performing related tasks as needed

General:

  • All employees must be aware, have knowledge and shall have received general training in Quality requirements of Össur. Training takes place in the Onboarding process and in New Employee Orientation. More specific Quality training is job specific.
  • All training related to the quality management system is done in accordance with the Training Management Process (QM1681).
  • Exercises good use of company funds and property within the set guidelines. Always maintains an honest and professional attitude as the company’s representative. 
  • Contributes to a safe working environment by maintaining own workspace and reporting any potential hazards.

Qualifications:

  • Must have an occupational therapy degree from an ACOTE-accredited OT program.
  • Have national registration with NBCOT as well as hold a state license in at least 1 state
  • 5+ years of relevant clinical experience
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced ambiguous environment while managing competing priorities and providing creative solutions to challenges
  • Ability to deliver a phenomenal customer experience and grow customer loyalty
  • Strong collaborative skills with customer and team members
  • Experience problem solving using adaptive equipment and assistive technology
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong communication, flexibility, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Position requires up to 70% travel for a field team OT.
