The Role: As the Regional Safety Manager, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to create and maintain a culture of safety. Under the guidance of the National Safety director you’ll be responsible for overseeing the safety and risk management programs across multiple locations within your territory. Your mission will be to partner with Management and Safety personnel to protect our employees, safeguard our reputation, and ensure a secure environment where everyone is empowered to be proactive in project safety planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Leadership: Regularly monitor and visit job sites to conduct thorough safety inspections of personnel, equipment, and materials, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed and identifying potential risks.
- Proactive Risk Mitigation: Provide on-the-spot coaching to co-workers and field employees, correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions to prevent accidents before they happen.
- Incident Management: Lead and mentor safety supervisors in investigating accidents, documenting incidents, and implementing corrective actions to minimize future risks.
- Compliance & Training: Collaborate with managers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and actively lead training sessions, including OSHA 10- and 30-hour certifications and specialized safety topics like fall protection, CPR, PPE, and more.
- Risk Assessment & Reporting: Conduct regular risk assessments and review safety-related data to identify emerging risks. Present actionable reports and recommendations to senior leadership for continued improvements in safety practices.
- Safety Program Implementation: Oversee the development and execution of safety policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor safety performance metrics, propose new safety initiatives, and work with various teams to improve risk management policies and practices.
- Training & Documentation: Maintain training logs, certifications, and other safety-related records, ensuring that all employees are up-to-date with required certifications and safety knowledge.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring teams and influencing positive safety outcomes.
- Expertise in risk management, with the ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (or similar software) for reporting and documentation.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a knack for keeping things on track even under pressure.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish (verbal and written) is preferred.
- OSHA 500 Certification (active and in good standing).
- A Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Safety, or a related field is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in the commercial construction industry, with a focus on safety and risk management.
- Commercial roofing experience is highly preferred, not required.
