Job Title:
Regional Segment Leader (m/f/d) Polymer and Electronic (P&E) Europe/Americas (West)

Summary:
The position of Segment Leader (m/f/d) Polymer and Electronic (P&E) Europe/Americas involves the development and implementation of the regional P&E segment strategy. The focus is on sales, marketing, application development, strategic growth programs, and technological innovations to ensure the sustainable growth and success of the segment. Responsibilities include overseeing the Sales, Marketing, and Application Development functions while closely collaborating with Technology to strengthen existing business areas and explore new opportunities.
Another key aspect of the role is supporting and coaching the local CAS team in Europe. This includes fostering team cohesion and ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards. Additionally, the role supports the successful execution of the CAS strategy in Europe, further enhancing collaboration and the success of the teams. This position offers a meaningful opportunity within a globally connected and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities Include:

Segment Growth and Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the segment through market share expansion, new product introductions (NPI), the exploration of new applications, global translations, and business development initiatives.

  • Create and execute annual and long-term operating plans for the segment, including revenue, volume, margin targets, and NPI vitality metrics.

  • Analyze market dynamics and trends to ensure informed short-term and long-term strategy and business planning.

Market Trends and Customer Focus

  • Ensure the segment has adequate visibility into market trends and industry dynamics through continuous analysis and monitoring.

  • Serve as a source of "Voice of the Customer" and market intelligence to support product developments that are optimally positioned.

  • Build and maintain strategic external relationships within the industry to strengthen market positioning and identify innovation opportunities.

Sales and Channel Strategy

  • Own, develop and execute direct sales strategies, including key account plans, demand forecasts, and pricing strategies.

  • Design and manage an effective channel strategy (e.g., distributors, agents) to maximize reach and efficiency.

  • Ensure that internal teams and external channel partners are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated to achieve their objectives.

People Development and Organizational Planning

  • Oversee all aspects of talent acquisition, employee development, and organizational evolution within the Sales, Marketing, and Application teams in partnership with HR.

  • Secure global succession planning and long-term talent development to ensure the team’s sustained performance and growth.

Reporting and Strategic Communication

  • Provide regular updates on strategic progress, including presentations during growth days, monthly business reviews (MBR), and annual operating plan (AOP) meetings.

External Partnerships and M&A

  • Identify, develop, and coordinate M&A projects as well as external partnerships, in conjunction with the Global Segment Leader (GSL) for CAS & PE, to drive strategic growth and synergies within the industrial segment.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

  • University degree, BS Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering

  • Proven strategic business management professional with 8+ years of regional business leadership experience, showcasing a solid track record of driving growth of additives specialties, preferably in the polymer industry, including polyolefins, packaging, and automotive sectors.

  • Extensive experience in the creation and execution of annual and long-term plans, incorporating market trend analysis, market share evaluation, and growth strategies.

  • Proven ability to deliver profit growth and successfully expand business operations.

  • Strong competencies in strategic marketing, including value proposition development, market segmentation, and executing successful new product launches.

  • Solid understanding of P&L management, cash flow, working capital, and return on capital employed, enabling informed decision-making to drive financial performance.

  • Demonstrated expertise in people development, including effective hiring, coaching, training, and motivating teams to achieve higher levels of competency, performance, and innovation.

  • Skilled in fostering a culture of change and continuous improvement.

  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken)

  • Strong proficiency in active listening, clear and persuasive verbal and written communication, and delivering impactful presentations tailored to diverse stakeholders, including executives.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and other sales or marketing tools

The following are preferred for this role

  • An advanced degree (e.g., MBA or Master’s in a technical discipline) is highly preferred.

  • Experience of additive chemicals sales is a valuable plus.
