LSU's Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in marine diseases, coral reef ecology, and/or computational biology. The researcher will advance efforts to understand the spread of coral disease, and play a key role in the integration of multifaceted field, laboratory, and simulation datasets into multiscale epidemiological models. Coding experience is required, and familiarity with oceanographic products and data types is highly valuable, The appointee will engage in software development. This position collaborates with a diverse team across six academic institutions, and the appointee will conduct research, manage projects, prepare peer-reviewed research products, and attend and present at national and international conferences. It is expected that this position's duration will extend from 18-24 months.
40% Will be responsible for data integration, analysis, and modeling to understand the spatial ecology
and epidemiology of a coral disease.
30% Will be responsible for software development.
25% Will organize and lead meetings, prepare progress and final reports, conduct literature reviews,
collect and analyze data, code development, simulation and statistical modeling, attend grant
related meetings, and prepare publications, reports and presentations.
5% Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D.
Specific Experience:
Experience in analyzing biological and/or physical oceanographic data, the application of statistical or simulation techniques, and preparing and submitting peer-reviewed publications.
