CONTRACT SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER - THIS IS A SIX-MONTH TEMPORARY POSITION

  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day operational aspects of multiple large scale strategic, regulatory, and departmental projects with cross-functional teams. 

  • Effectively develops and gains approval of project charter, identifies and assembles project team, creates detailed project plan, performs risk and issue management, implements change management practices, and monitors scope creep. 

  • Coordinates with third parties / vendors to promote successful execution when needed. 

  • Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation. 

  • Measures project performance to ensure compliance with expected quality standards. 

  • Publishes status reports to sponsor, business process owner, project team, and key stakeholders. 

  • Reports and escalates to management as needed when the project is at risk. 

  • Records and shares lessons learned and best practices. 

  • Contributes to enhancing the PMO best practices, processes, and policies. 

  • Supports adoption of the Scrum framework by coaching team on agile values and principles. 

  • Facilitates annual strategic planning activities and project portfolio selection if needed. 

  • Provides coaching and mentoring to project team members and other associates. 

  • Develops and leverages strong working relationships. 

  • Champions spirit of continuous improvement. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. Project Management (PMP) certification and / or Scrum Master (CSM) certification preferred.  Green Belt, Six Sigma, ITIL, Lean training a plus. 

Field of Study: Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline. 

 

Experience:  

  • Life or LTC Insurance product knowledge is required. 

  • 5 or more years of related Project Management experience leading large scale, complex projects. Insurance industry experience is a plus.  

  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills to coach, motivate, develop, and manage a team. 

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills at C-Suite level, with the ability to interpret and summarize data to help management achieve strategic and operational goals. 

  • Experience leading cross-disciplinary projects to drive business process change affecting multiple areas. 

  • Clear and articulate oral and written communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills. 

  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities. 

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines including experience managing project / program office.  

  • Experience with strategic planning and proven leadership and management skills. 

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and experience using Smartsheet and Jira is preferred.
