About the role…
The Specialist, Human Resources is essential in overseeing daily Human Resources activities and supporting various Human Resources functions within the Contact Center. Acting as a business partner to the Contact Center, the Specialist, Human Resources will contribute to creating a positive workplace culture, manage all employee relations, and manage recruitment for all departments within the Contact Center. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who is passionate about working with people and can uphold confidentiality while contributing to the Human Resources department's overall success. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources. This is a remote opportunity!
Road Scholar offers a remote-first work environment. The compensation range for this exempt level salaried position is $64,000 - $74,000.

Duties and Responsibilities
Employee Relations:
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships across HR functions to understand essential process requirements and drive efficient resolution of problems that may arise.
- Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance on company policies and resolving issues promptly and effectively.
- When applicable, facilitate discussions between employees and managers to resolve conflicts, ensuring all cases are handled fairly and aligned with Road Scholar’s policies and culture.
- Guide management and deliver HR support and service aligned with organizational needs.
- Works closely with managers to develop and drive human resource activities and processes relative to employee performance that support business initiatives.
- Manage complaints about workplace behavior, performance, or other HR matters by conducting thorough and objective investigations, followed by appropriate actions or recommendations.
Performance Management:
- Assist the HR department with the administration of performance reviews for employees in the Contact Center.
- Advise Contact Center leadership on employee performance-related matters such as development plans, goal setting, etc.
Recruitment:
- Collaborate with hiring managers in the Contact Center to understand their staffing needs and clarify job requirements.
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for all departments within the Contact Center, including posting open vacancies, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and extending offers.
- On occasion, working alongside the HR department and Contact Center leadership, modifying and assisting in updating job descriptions to fit the specific needs of each position in our dynamic environment.
Onboarding & Offboarding:
- Coordinate and schedule Contact Center new hires for new hire orientation.
- Facilitate orientation for large groups of new hires in the Contact Center. Occasionally, facilitate new hire orientation for new hires outside of the Contact Center.
- Manage the termination process, including conducting exit interviews, when applicable, for employees in the Contact Center.
Compliance:
- Ensure HR compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including labor laws, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Equal Employment Opportunity.
- Guide all employees and ensure adherence to company policies and employment regulations.
- Support HR leadership with developing, revising, and communicating HR policies and procedures.
Other:
- Assists the Director of HR, and the HR department with various projects as needed and performs other related and unrelated tasks necessary to support the Human Resources function.
YOU NEED
- 2+ years of comparable experience in an HR Specialist or Generalist role.
- 2+ years of experience with full-cycle recruitment.
- 2+ years of experience in Employee or Labor Relations.
- 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree Preferred
- Strong knowledge and understanding of current federal and multi-state employment laws.
- Ability to understand business needs and connect those to human resources strategies and plans for assigned business units.
- Strong knowledge and experience using HRIS systems (experience with UKG is a plus!).
- Proficiency in MS Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills (writing, editing, verbal, and presentation) are necessary—the ability to communicate with all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (collaboration, advanced problem-solving orientation and decision-making, teamwork, conflict resolution) with the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion and maintain high professionalism and strict confidentiality.
