OHSU has three missions: healing, teaching, and discovery. In the School of Nursing, these focus to optimize health, prepare nurse leaders, and transform health care. Infusing these is a fourth: to become a trauma-informed and truly anti-racist institution. The School of Nursing has made the same commitment. SON Faculty participate in the teaching mission of the SON; specific activities and responsibilities are based on rank and program.  At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty must also participate in practice and/or research. Faculty members in the clinical series are expected to participate in service to the school, including student advising.

$94,020-$117,447. Pay is commensurate with rank.

Function/Duties of Position:

Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research):

• Plans and supervises student lab and/or clinical experiences or practica based on teaching assignment.

 

Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.):

• Participates in scholarly activities based on faculty rank. At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the practice mission, demonstrates competence in an area of clinical expertise and engages in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the practice of clinical practice. At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, faculty in the research mission advance a program of research, prepares grants and seeks funding, and engages with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON.

Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of student taught):

• Provides effective didactic instruction based on teaching assignment using appropriate instructional technologies to ensure that course outcomes are met.  Participates collaboratively in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum. Mentors and advises students. Faculty in the doctoral program supervises student in dissertation and/or clinical inquiry projects

 

Service Activities:

• These activities could include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program or Academic Director. Participates in faculty governance; additional engagement based on rank.
  
  

Administrative Activities:

• As negotiated.
  
  

Other Activities:

• The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

Required Qualifications:

Education: (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position.)  

• Instructor: MSN or equivalent
• Assistant Professor: MSN/DNP or equivalent

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses:  (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.)

• Oregon RN license
• BLS
