Job description

Job Title:  Offshore Survey Engineer

Location:  Offshore (167 days + 33 days annual leave)

Salary: Highly Competitive

 

The Opportunity:

As a Survey Engineer with Beam you will be responsible for the mobilisation, operation, maintenance and demobilisation of geophysical and hydrographic survey equipment onboard our nearshore and offshore survey vessels. As part of this role you'll be responsible for acquiring data and ensuring equipment is recording the quality of data we expect.
Our scopes are varied but we are predominantly engaged in renewable operations. As part of our business we'll undertake a variety of Geophysical, UXO and ROV Survey and Inspection Projects. Working with market leading technologies from external suppliers along with our internal Beam team this is not an opportunity to be missed.
As part of this role there will opportunities to work with our fleet of ROV and USV’s.
You are an integral part of the Beam team offshore and will be critical in the safe and successful execution of projects.
You’ll be able to make an impact by improving mobilisation efficiency, by being the offshore subject matter expert for all things survey equipment, and by taking control of equipment issues offshore.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensuring safe and efficient mobilisations and demobilisations.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Supervision of offshore teams during mobilisations and maintenance checks.
  • Installation and configuration of survey equipment.
  • Receipt and dispatch of survey equipment onto vessels.
  • Offshore maintenance, and repair of survey and IT equipment.
  • Accurate reporting of equipment issues.
  • Offshore point of contact for technical support.
  • Maintain offshore inventory and stock levels.
  • Lead by example with respect to HSE.

 

You should apply if you have:

Essential:

  • A solid understanding of survey engineering
  • Experience of Hydrographic/Geophysical survey mobilisation and data acquisition
  • Experience with positioning systems
  • Hands on operational experience of MBES, SSS, Mag, SBP, MUX, USBL
  • Interest in innovative and disruptive survey technology
  • Offshore experience as survey engineer or technical experience onshore

 

Desirable:

  • B.Sc./HND in Engineering/Electronics or equivalent experience
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Relevant onshore experience as a survey engineer
  • This role will require the individual to drive company vehicles including van and lift trucks, the candidate must hold or be able and willing to obtain the relevant licences including medical checks where appropriate.
