Our Infrastructure and Programmes team have a vacancy for a Work Scheduler (Administrator) on an initial 12 month fixed term contract. You will join a small team of 2 schedulers across the UK supporting our multi-disciplinary teams of around 700 operational and technical colleagues who play an important role in maintaining, conserving, renewing and protecting engineering infrastructure and assets UK wide.
Your role will be to specifically to organise work schedules, transfer programmes onto portable work devices (phones), and aid with hire desk diary management alongside other members of the team. In doing this you will support the organisation and planning of delivery of a wide range of canal engineering work, including inspections, investigations, and small works, alongside briefs for larger activities too.
Location & coverage
This Works Scheduler vacancy will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required for team working a collaborative meetings.
Relevant Hubs include: Burnley, Ellesmere Port, Birmingham, Hatton (Warwick), Leeds

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience :
In this role you will own and control the weekly/daily assignment of planned and reactive tasks to our customer service, mechanical & electrical and Direct Services delivery teams, providing vital support to the programme planners in aiding them to deliver the national asset maintenance, repair and renewal delivery works programme.
Key accountabilities:
- Assign resources and monitor the delivery of work contained in the asset inspection, maintenance, repair and renewal and customer service programmes.
Provide a visible work programme to delivery teams, coordinating any changes that arise to minimise the impact on delivery. - Work with delivery team supervisors to optimise the scheduling of the works programme to maximise efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain an accurate people resource plan and schedule and dispatch work in a timely manner to delivery teams.
- Take requests for reactive work, in line with business rules, and create work orders and schedule and assign these activities to minimise disruption to programmed works.
- Support the programme team with day to day technical administration tasks.
- Contribute to the preparation, maintenance and application of programme management standard processes that fully utilise the Trust’s information systems and ensure these are communicated within the Trust.
- Work safely ensuring the safety of others and contribute to safe working in all activities.
About you
The very nature of this role means that to deliver it successfully you will be a highly organised individual who is able to evidence their ability to plan and organise activities and events with on time delivery.
You must be able to demonstrate that you can offer experience in the following:
- Experience working in technical admin/call centre environments.
- SAP is highly desirable - particularly in the Logistics, Accounting and Information System modules, however experience with other similar systems is also acceptable.
- Attention to detail.
- Collaborative worker.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Proficient in the use of a personal computer and business applications software e.g. Excel, Word and other MS office applications.
- Excellent customer service and communicational skills.
