Responsibilities
Our client is seeking a Cloud Ops Engineer to join their team! This critical role involves privileged access to our client's cloud instances and systems, including their FedRAMP high and Department of Defense environments. The Cloud Operations Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of their cloud infrastructure. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud technologies, particularly Azure, and will be adept at implementing best practices for security and compliance. Additionally, this role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and optimize cloud solutions that meet the evolving needs of our client's organization. As a key member of their team, you will play a vital role in driving innovation and efficiency within their cloud operations, contributing to the overall success of the company.
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure for the organization, including Azure Government enclaves and Kubernetes clusters
- Deploy, configure, test, secure, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
- Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Maintain our client's environment to comply with FedRAMP high requirements and provide monthly reporting
- Secure and maintain the stack to fix any cybersecurity vulnerability, CVE, etc.
- Ensure SLAs are met, and our client's platform is up and stable
- Build all automation to achieve these tasks with ease and visibility, automated alerting, etc.
- Uphold and enforce compliance, privacy and security policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards
- Regularly review system security measures and recommend enhancements
- Conduct regular audits to ensure security practices are compliant with internal and external standards
- Collaborate with the team to communicate privacy concerns and data protection strategies
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Cloud Infrastructure and Security Engineer, specifically with Azure is required
- Experience writing custom scripts to increase system efficiency
- A deep understanding of Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Specifically experience managing and optimizing Kubernetes clusters is required
Education/Certification Requirements
- Possession of relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Security+ is required
Preferred Requirements
- Additional experience with GCP and AWS is highly preferred
- Local to Washington D.C. is preferred
- Experience working within a start-up environment is highly preferred
Clearance Requirements
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Must be able to obtain a US Government Secret level clearance once starting the position.
