Responsibilities
Our client is seeking a Vice President of Sales to join their team! The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for driving revenue and managing the sales team. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in sales leadership, particularly within the government sector. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Department of Defense and Federal agencies, and the ability to develop and execute sales strategies that align with our business objectives.
Driving Revenue and Managing the Sales Team:
Lead and manage the sales team, including hiring, training, and performance management to ensure peak productivity and morale
Establish robust sales processes and methodologies to optimize sales efficiency and effectiveness, driving measurable results
Developing Sales Plans:
Create and implement aggressive strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets, driving significant business growth
Develop comprehensive sales plans that align with the company's strategic goals and market opportunities
Managing the Sales Team:
Hire, train, and mentor the sales team, providing ongoing support and coaching to foster professional development and success
Foster a high-performance sales culture through effective leadership and motivation
Building Relationships:
Maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders
Develop and nurture long-term relationships with Department of Defense and Federal agencies
Analyzing Market Trends:
Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify new business opportunities and inform strategic decisions
Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge
Collaborating with Other Departments:
Setting Sales Goals:
Establish ambitious sales goals and quotas for the team, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as needed to achieve targets
Foster a results-oriented environment that encourages accountability and high achievement
Creating Sales Forecasts:

Creating Sales Training:
Develop and implement comprehensive sales training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge, ensuring continuous learning and development
Provide resources and support for ongoing professional growth within the sales team
Tracking Sales Activities:
Monitor sales activities and track consumer behavior, leveraging data-driven insights to refine sales strategies and improve performance
Identify areas for improvement within the sales process and create targeted programs to address them

Requirements
- 10+ years of sales experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role is required
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth within the Department of Defense and Federal agencies
- Strong understanding of government procurement processes and regulations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
- Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans
- Proficiency in sales forecasting and data analysis
- Experience with CRM software and sales performance tools
- Ability to travel as needed
Education/Certification Requirements
Preferred Requirements
- Local to Washington D.C. is preferred
- Experience working within a start-up environment is highly preferred
Clearance Requirements
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Must be able to obtain a US Government Secret level clearance once starting the position.
