ERG is seeking a talented, motivated wastewater professional to join our team of NPDES program specialists who support federal and state regulatory agencies. A successful candidate will have five or more years of experience in industrial pretreatment programs. Direct experience with NPDES program implementation is required. At the same time, ideal candidates will also have experience conducting pretreatment compliance audits and inspections and industrial wastewater inspections associated with the federal pretreatment program. Experience in compliance evaluation inspections and stormwater inspections is a plus. 
 
This position is full-time and offers a diverse set of project opportunities, including project management. ERG provides high-quality technical support to U.S. EPA Headquarters, Regions, and states for NPDES program implementation, compliance, and enforcement. Our uniquely qualified and dedicated team of NPDES program specialists possess real-world experience in implementing the NPDES program across the country and understand the challenges that EPA and state agencies face.

Job Description:
  • Coordinate with federal and state customers to plan compliance evaluation or case development activities
  • Lead or participate in field investigations and onsite meetings related to client projects and cases
  • Perform site inspections, including evaluation of municipal pretreatment programs and industrial facilities, as well as industrial and construction stormwater inspections and WWTP evaluations
  • Document visual inspection observations with thorough notes and photographs
  • Support EPA clients with the development of technical documents and training materials
  • Prepare inspection reports or other technical documents
  • Perform data review and communicate findings in oral and written form
  • Manage projects, including staffing, scheduling, and budgeting
  • Cultivate relationships with new and existing state and federal customers

  • Qualifications and Skills:
  • A degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental, civil, or water resources engineering or natural science
  • 5 to 10 years of experience with wastewater management and NPDES program implementation.
  • For example, this may include:
  • Experience with implementation of industrial pretreatment programs and/or evaluation of treatment technologies at industrial facilities
  • Familiarity with municipal wastewater treatment plant operations and technologies
  • Experience with operation and maintenance and asset management practices, such as Capacity, Management, Operations, and Maintenance (CMOM) programs
  • Organizational and project management skills
  • Effective communication and technical writing abilities
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines, while providing quality client-ready deliverables
  • Willingness to travel to conduct fieldwork
