Role Overview:

We are looking for a talented and passionate Junior Data Engineer to join our technology team. In this role, you will assist in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring that data is accessible, reliable, and actionable. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support analytical reporting and business intelligence initiatives. This position is ideal for someone eager to learn and grow in the field of data engineering within a dynamic fintech environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines using AWS services.

  • Support the implementation of data models, data warehouses, and data marts to facilitate analytical reporting.

  • Help develop and maintain ETL processes to ensure timely and accurate data ingestion.

  • Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.

  • Optimize and tune data processes for performance and efficiency.

  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycle.

  • Work with DevOps and engineering teams to implement infrastructure as code using Terraform.

  • Assist in developing financial reports and dashboards to support business decision-making.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and provide support to end-users.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in data engineering.


Tech Stack:

  • Cloud Services: AWS

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform

  • Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL

  • ETL Tools: Familiarity with ETL frameworks

  • Programming Languages: Python

  • Version Control: Git, GitHub


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent related work experience).

  • 0-2 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.

  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services such as S3, RDS, and Lambda.

  • Basic experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.

  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.

  • Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).

  • Strong programming skills in Python.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.


Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of data modelling techniques and tools.

  • Familiarity with financial reporting and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and practices.
