About the Director, Social and Digital Strategy
We are excited to announce an immediate opening for a Director, Social and Digital Strategy. This pivotal role will lead and grow our social and digital teams at Material, where we develop and connect audience insights to enable brands to authentically engage with consumers through paid, owned, and earned channels. We are seeking a dynamic, T-shaped social and paid media strategist to design and lead cross-channel marketing programs, uniting our social media and paid media departments.
Core Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate is a seasoned strategist, storyteller, campaign planner, and social media enthusiast who thrives on understanding and connecting brands to their customers through both organic and paid social channels. This is a hands-on role, deeply involved in the work of assigned accounts. Key responsibilities include:
Leadership and Oversight: Design and lead social media and cross-channel projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are on schedule, within budget, and exceed client expectations.
Client Collaboration: Partner with account leads to work directly with clients and cross-functional subject matter experts, leading strategic planning and developing briefs that drive business-building connection strategies and programs.
Cross-Channel Strategy: Develop and implement strategies that integrate social media and paid media efforts, ensuring cohesive and effective cross-channel marketing programs.
Paid Social Media Expertise: Leverage extensive knowledge of paid social media trends and technologies to develop best practices – advising creative development, optimizing campaign performance and achieving client objectives.
Capability Development: Enhance agency social media and community engagement capabilities, integrating them with paid media to advance our social and digital practice.
Platform Optimization: Identify optimal platforms for campaign execution, ensuring all content is relevant to the target audience and meets client objectives.
Analytics-Driven Strategy: Utilize a deep understanding of measurement strategy and connected, cross-channel initiatives to inform strategic decisions.
Presentation Skills: Be a confident presenter who can energize client teams and own the room.
Team Management: Lead a team of social and media strategists and campaign creators, ensuring consistency and connectivity across accounts.
Business Development: Support business development efforts, including organic growth and new pitches, in coordination with our growth team.
Channel Strategy: Lead channel pitch strategy and social media opportunities in partnership with a cross-functional team of subject matter experts.
Industry Pulse: Passionate about social media; consistently tracking platform updates to develop and share insightful client perspectives as needed
About You:
Experience: 10+ years in social strategy roles, with extensive experience in developing and executing multi-platform paid, owned, and shared social media programs.
Strategic Leadership: Ability to leverage consumer insights, platform performance, and social media trends to develop effective strategies and plans.
Cross-Channel Expertise: Proven experience in integrating social media and paid media strategies to create cohesive marketing programs.
Paid Social Media Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in managing and optimizing paid social media campaigns to achieve client goals.
Hands-On Approach: Willingness to be deeply involved in the work of assigned accounts, ensuring strategic initiatives are executed effectively.
Team Management: Proven experience managing direct reports and cross-functional teams across multiple clients.
Social Media Expertise: In-depth knowledge of strategic social planning, community management, advocacy, influencer strategy, channels, publishing, and creative best practices.
Analytical Skills: Familiarity with social and media analytics, insights, and reporting for program optimization.
Industry Relationships: Established relationships with social marketing platforms and vendors; recognized as a subject matter expert in the social and paid media landscape.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational and communication skills to maintain brand integrity and engage with a broad user base.
Social Savvy: Actively engaged in social media with a solid understanding of community dynamics and interaction.

Pay Range: $83,000.00-140,000.00
The range shown represents a grouping of relevant ranges currently in use at Material. Actual range for this position may differ, depending on location and specific skillset required for the work itself.
