Job description

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Manager of Software Engineering (C#, API). In this new role, you will lead Software Engineers working on API development Applied Epic using C#, TypeScript/JavaScript, and SQL Server. In this People Leadership role, you will manage software engineers and provide technical expertise to ensure velocity and quality.



What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of software engineers to develop, test, and deliver new features and APIs
  • Be accountable for the team’s commitments and delivery, reviewing code and architectural decisions
  • Empower the team with clear goals and a data-informed approach to ensure excellence
  • Provide professional and technical leadership with guidance, coaching, and feedback needed to support continuous learning and collaboration within the team
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement with the team
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, and other Engineering Leaders to define work
  • Monitor active work to reduce scope change, escalate blockers, and drive collaboration needed to deliver on roadmap commitments and quality goals 


What You’ll Need To Succeed

We’re looking for someone who

  • Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office


  Your experience should include 

  • 8+ years of experience creating enterprise software
  • 3+ years managing software engineering teams
  • Technical experience with C#, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL Server
  • Experience with API Management technologies, such as Apigee, and Kubernetes
  • 5+ years of experience building web applications, web services, REST API development
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodology and testing practices
  • Expertise in software development and test automation to ensure quality
  • Ability to recruit, develop, and retain software development teams
  • Proven technical abilities, troubleshooting skills, and research abilities
  • Experience with Microsoft development tools
  • Experience with Scrum practices and tools like Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with Git source repositories
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or CIS, or equivalent work experience
