Job description

Are you a technical writer seeking an exciting new challenge? Do you love remote working and are fed up of the office commute?

Do you have proven cloud technical writing experience?

If this sounds like a bit of you, then read on!

We’ve partnered with an exciting company who have a collaborative approach to cloud deployment and management. They are helping organisations optimise their cloud environments and virtual desktops. They are growing massively across the UK, EMEA, Australia and the US, so now is an exciting time to join them!

So, you typically know what a Technical Writing role consists of, but here are some of the things you’ll be doing:

  • Creating and updating a variety of technical documents, from user manuals and release notes to installation guides and FAQs. You will help review and edit the existing documentation to ensure clarity and consistency, adhering to style guidelines.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts, gathering information and ensuring accuracy of documents, as well as presenting technical information in a clear and well-structured manor, tailored to the audience. You will also work with the customer engagement team to gather feedback and identify areas of improvement for documentation.
  • You will ensure that all documentation is compliant with best practises, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Help with verifying the accuracy of technical information via testing and collaboration with the relevant teams.
  • You’ll also ensure version control and accessibility of technical documentation for internal and external documentation.

To be successful in this role, you will need experience of:

  • Writing technical documentation for cloud platforms, whether that be AWS, GCP or Azure. You will also have a knowledge of cloud computing concepts and terminologies, as well as networking, storage, virtual machines and security.
  • Of course, you’ll need solid writing and communication skills and be able to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • You will have strong experience in creating user manuals, API docs, installation guides and articles
  • You will have familiarity with various style guides and documentation standards
  • You will also understand information architecture, content organisation principles and the ability to work independently but also collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • A degree in a relevant field (i.e. computer science or related)

It would also be a real bonus if you understand software development processes and agile methodologies. It would also be great if you’ve used software such as FrameMaker, Madcap Flare and version control systems such as SVN or Git.
