The Finance Officer will provide daily support and leave cover for the Australian finance team, ensuring the smooth execution of financial operations within the Rail business unit. This role provides exposure to the foundational aspects of the finance function, through the allocation of tasks relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll and banking, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
Reporting to Finance Business Partner (Australia)
Key responsibilities
- Payment Processing:
- Prepare and process vendor and expense payment run(s) weekly in SAP for Australia and Philippines
- Set up and execute approved payment batches.
- Raise ICO Bank payments and attend to ad hoc Philippines payments.
Payroll:- Preparation of monthly payroll including leave and local employee entitlements
- Preparation and payments of all Philippines payroll obligations
- Liaise with HR and external payroll company on all aspects of onboarding/offboarding staff
Working Capital:- Raise invoices for Philippines and Australia using Harvest and updating SAP
- Allocation of payments to Debtors.
- Weekly Cash Flow reporting for the Philippines
Reporting:- Prepare Debtors and Creditors reports in SAP.
- Reconcile Bank Accounts, Debtors, Creditors, and Fixed Assets (FA) as part of the month-end process for the Philippines.
- Local VAT reporting requirements
- Perform ad hoc reporting and provide team coverage as directed by line management
Month-End Support:- Preparation of month-end accruals and all balance sheet reconciliations; journal, fixed asset and depreciation for the Philippines
- Monthly Intercompany Invoicing
Office Admin:- Prepare and co-ordinate travel bookings for Philippines and Australia teams for project and non-project travel using Ricardo travel portal
- Arrange Office & IT requirements for local team

Key competencies and experience
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar role, specifically within financial accounting processes.
- Appropriate academic qualifications and / or technical expertise to undertake the role.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently, with guidance and support as needed.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems (or a willingness to learn).
Skills and behaviours
- Attention to detail with a proven ability to manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
- Financial qualification or equivalent industry experience.
