About our group:

 

Seagate Systems Team designs high density storage systems for use in todays modern enterprise level storage architectures in data centers worldwide.  The team designs these systems from the ground up and is responsible for prototype manufacturing and new product introduction support as the products transition into high volume manufacturing.  Seagate Systems is responsible for all aspects of the product design including mechanical, electrical and firmware development.   We are seeking an entry level engineer to assist with our systems prototyping activities in a fast paced product development environment.  Join us in delivering Seagate's next generation systems. 

About the role - you will:

 

  • Provide localized support for Supply Chain and Material team leads reporting in to Sustaining & New Product Introduction product teams.
  • Assist development engineering and production teams with material staging for prototype system builds.
  • Own & manage software tool(s) to enable material purchase orders to support prototype and early production builds
  • Monitor incoming material & track disposition within local teams. Maintain database of distribution of material or units
  • Work with world-wide purchasing & factory teams to facilitate material transfers, customer or internal evaluation units
  • Work with product development and finance team for materials budget tracking.
  • Initiate & track outgoing shipments worldwide, from tracking ETA to helping resolve logistics issues
  • Own of some Bill of Materials (BOM) aspects, creating Engineering Change orders & tracking through release of those changes.
  • Provide regular clear, concise status of incoming/outgoing material and/or BOM updates to product teams​.
  • Call during some evenings and work with world-wide purchasing & supply chain teams.
  • Support Data Storage Systems teams but will cross train with storage device teams as well.

  • Good project management and communication skills.
  • Enjoys working in a fast paced and complex environment.
  • Enjoys managing and coordinating tasks with multiple functions and locations to complete within targeted deadlines.

Your experience includes:

 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate diverse inputs into actions.
  • Software skills include high level of proficiency with excel and ability to learn corporate systems that support manufacturing and design.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Focus on teamwork, with ability to take on and complete projects with minimal supervision.
  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills.
