The Senior Manager of Product Management leads managers and / or professional individual contributors who exercise substantial latitude and independence. Influences the function's (Digital) short-term strategy and executes long-term strategies by setting new standards and developing / implementing new processes and business objectives.

As a Senior Manager of Product Management, you'll lead the development of products that ensure a compelling digital experience for our retail Customers or help arm H-E-B Partners company-wide with world-class business applications to thrive in their jobs. Responsible for managing a team(s) that may include multiple related departments. Participates with other senior managers to influence short-term strategic plans and objectives. Uses influencing skills to gain buy in and manage valuable and complex working relationships. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures operations effective achievement of objectives. Responsible for resource allocation, prioritization, and financial responsibility. Participates in strategic decision making based on company goals and objectives. Responsible for hiring, firing, and performance / pay reviews.

We're looking for:
- 7+ years of experience in product management or technology consulting; experience leading / building large enterprise product teams or complex product portfolios.

What is the work?
Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several departments within the function. Has control of planning, staffing, budget attainment, and recommending / implementing changes to methods. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the function.

Impact:
Decisions have serious impact on overall success or failure on function (Digital). Erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause critical delays or modifications to functional projects or operations causing substantial expenditure of time, human resources, and increased financial cost.

- Looks beyond existing methodologies to resolve complex issues often cross-functional in nature or with significant impact to the business.
- Influences and implements the vision and strategic plans within a department.
- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the department.
- Participates in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people within the function.
- Ensures budgets and schedules meet requirements. Extensive business knowledge with comprehensive understanding of the organization and functional area
- Interacts daily with direct reports, peer leaders, and senior leaders effectively communicating and presenting results and recommendations within their department.

Management / Strategy:
- Leads a team of product managers to manage the product cycle of complex digital product categories (projects of large scope, size, budget, and time frame)
- Conducts annual reviews; provides Partner feedback to improve performance.
- Recruits / interviews / participates in selection of / onboards new hires; trains / provides ongoing education; coaches / mentors / manages product team Partners.
- Helps develop digital product strategy, including building tools and resources to help manage a highly effective team.
- Manages resource allocation, budget, and spending.
- Manages complex activities to drive product development, typically strategically or thematically related.
- Assesses current market conditions to define complex product strategy.
- Leads / manages development of product roadmaps; determines product strategy and roadmaps that align with product ecosystem, considering industry trends, vendor marketspace, and organizational priorities.
- Crafts project vision; coordinates cross-functional teams of Partners / suppliers.
- Communicates complex ideas; anticipates objections; negotiates with / influences internally and externally, including H-E-B senior leaders and global vendors.
- Anticipates business and regulatory issues; recommends best practices for improvement and costs and fees.
- Makes data-informed decisions based on sound understanding of organizational priorities, voice of guest, analytics, user testing, benchmarks, industry reporting, and emerging trends.
- Refines requirements based on prototyping, hands on testing, and iterative feedback; serves as bridge between customer desires and technical realities.
- Drives end-to-end product release, including feature design-development, integrations, data migration, cutover from legacy applications, and stabilization and support.
- Proactively manages sprint plans, issues, and decisions; anticipates risks; ensures focus stays on maximizing value within timeline and resource constraints.
- Manages company-wide stakeholders to understand / strategize business needs in an end-to-end manner.
- Works closely with business stakeholders, users, Product Managers, Design, and Engineering Partners to drive entire technology project lifecycle.
- Manages / leads teams to demonstrate high velocity, efficiency, and morale; ensures teams consistently meet committed deadlines.
- Flexes existing processes to maximize outcomes; identifies critical risks and dependencies; anticipates / resolves critical team issues with little escalation.

What is your background?
- Bachelor / Masters' degree in a relevant field of education and / or work experience leading successful projects and coaching / mentoring others in functional area. Completion of H-E-B Leadership programs where applicable (i.e., SORL)
- 7+ years of experience in product management or technology consulting
- Experience leading / building large enterprise product teams or complex product portfolios.
- Experience supporting retail, supply chain, ecommerce, or digital marketing operations.
