About the Position


The Internet Measurements Product Manager will be responsible for product leadership of the Internet Society’s Pulse platform. The Product Manager will collaborate with a wider team overseeing the development of data sources, community building, content development and outreach. 

 

The position reports to the Resource Director and will be assigned to the Pulse project. The position will also have a dotted line reporting to the respective project leads and to the senior vice presidents overseeing the projects and program.

Individuals should have a solid reputation within the target audiences and the ability to build relationships and collaborate closely with various stakeholders.

Remote with the United States or Europe.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Product Strategy and Vision:
    • Develop and articulate a clear product vision and strategy aligned with the Internet Society’s mission.
    • Define and prioritize product features and enhancements to maximize user value and impact.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align product goals with organizational objectives.
    • Communicate product vision, progress, and outcomes to senior management and other key stakeholders.
    • Foster strong relationships with users, partners, and community members.
  • Product Development:
    • Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, design, communications, etc.) to develop and launch new features.
    • Create detailed product specifications in collaboration with the development team and based on user experiences and acceptance criteria.
    • Manage the product Epic backlog and Roadmap and ensure timely delivery of product milestones.
    • Conduct market research and user feedback analysis to identify opportunities and guide product direction.
    • Continuously gather and analyze user feedback to inform product improvement.
  • Market Trends and Innovation in collaboration with various Internet Society experts
    • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.
    • Identify and evaluate new opportunities to enhance the product’s value proposition.
    • Champion innovative solutions to address user needs and market demands.
  • Enhance User Experience and Engagement:
    • Advocate for a user-centric design approach and ensure an exceptional user experience.
    • Work closely with UX/UI designers to create intuitive and engaging interfaces.
  • Data and Analytics (With UX and Dev program mgr):
    • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and track product performance against goals.
    • Use data analytics to drive decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepare regular reports on product performance and present insights to stakeholders.

 

Desired Qualifications


  • A university-level qualification in information technology or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Product Manager or similar role in a tech or Internet-related field.
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional people, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional team environment and to work across multiple time zones.
  • Passion for the mission of the Internet Society Commitment to the Internet Society’s values and objectives.
  • A deep understanding and knowledge of the Internet architecture, Internet-related issues, and Internet technical organizations.
  • Experience with data-driven products, analytics platforms, or online communities.
  • Familiarity with the Internet Society’s Pulse focus areas, including Internet measurements, Internet resilience, openness, security, and sustainability.
  • Technical background or knowledge of web technologies and development processes.
  • Proficiency in product management tools such as JIRA, Trello, or similar.
  • An ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English. Proficiency in public speaking is an added advantage. (Proficiency in one or more additional languages desirable.)
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Compensation and benefits for this position will be paid in local currency and based on the country and geographic location’s local salary and benefits market data for the position. Exact pay will be based on factors including but not limited to relevant qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, business and organizational needs.
