Responsibilities:

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, documentation, implementation and support of Windows Server based operating systems. The Wintel team supports and engineers multiple technologies and platforms around Active Directory, Microsoft Products, File Services, Citrix, and Virtualization. Regular job responsibilities will involve making design decisions, developing team standards, and documentation that is based on the goals of project initiatives and/or changing business needs.  The position will also need to play a substantial support role involving a variety of technologies, customer and team driven projects, handling trouble tickets on a priority basis, participation in tasks related to Service Desk and Desktop support service orders required to meet customer needs. A comprehensive performance management plan will involve the identification, discussion and implementation of personal and business related objectives and goals aimed at career and team development.

 

  • Participate in business and departmental projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Performs configuration, integration, maintenance, performance management, security management, failure analysis and recovery, and user support.
  • Participate in the creation, maintenance, testing, and execution of the Disaster Recovery plan
  • Participates in development, maintains, evaluates and documents administration of systems tools and related strategies.
  • PowerShell and scripting experience to better automate processes and workflows
  • Work closely with business colleagues to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time. 
  • Participate in team on-call rotation
  • Develop the planning, architecture, and oversee the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the integrity for all systems are maintained, system version is kept current and at appropriate maintenance levels.
  • Ensure all systems maintain correct configurations. Monitor the performance of installed technologies, performing required maintenance and upgrades as appropriate.  Make recommendations for operational improvements. 
  • Provide the engineering support and administration of Active Directory, DNS, and any additional Microsoft, Citrix and VMware products introduced or existing in the network infrastructure.
  • Self driven, motivated, team player responsible for solving complex technical problems related to distributed systems.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to peers and subordinate team members specifically assigned as Systems Administrators.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, report, and resolve hardware, software, and firmware problems on servers
  • Ensure the integrity, security, and availability of all Windows-based and Wintel Managed enterprise servers, in accordance to business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Provide administrative support for Windows servers in a highly available, 24x7 enterprise environment
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage and assist in the design of Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure
  • Responsible for working with the team on daily operational issues by working directly on incidents reported through the ServiceNow system.
  • Assist senior team members with tasks such as; maintain system scripts, user and group administration, security, tuning, configuration and monitoring
  • Escalate issues that will have broad impact to solicit best approach for solution.
  • Maintain and constantly improve server performance, reliability and security, including performance tuning, file system layout and optimization, and ongoing update of services in compliance with security policies
  • Participate and adhere to defined incident, problem and change management best practices following ITIL best practices
  • Support the deployment of new systems in response to incoming customer requests and organizational requirements.
  • Support the engineering team by participating in new system deployments, technical exchange meetings, and document reviews.
  • Operating system/utility software installation, testing, implementation, maintenance, and configuration management.

 

Qualifications:
  • PowerShell or other development/scripting Knowledge
  • Technical infrastructure architect/design/support for Windows Server operating systems and a Strong understanding of architecting and configuring Microsoft Windows OS technology
  • Cisco UCS /Fabric Interconnect experience
  • VMWare / Server Virtualization Experience for a minimum of 3 years
  • Active Directory, DNS and DHCP administration support for a minimum of 5 years
  • DFS/R administration for a minimum of 3 years
  • Citrix XenApp Experience for a minimum of 3 years
  • (VCP) VMware Certified Professional
  • (MCP) Microsoft Certified Professional
  • (MCSE) Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
  • (CCAA or CCP-V) Citrix Certified Advanced Administer or Citrix Certified Professional – Virtualization
  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education/experience/certification
