Team Description

The Safety Org is one of Reddit's largest divisions. Safety UX collaborates with product development, scaled abuse detection/mitigation, threat intelligence, and safety operations to create tools and facilitate workflows for internal admins and agents, as well as users on our platform. We tackle complex issues to foster safe communities.

Role Description

As a Contract Product Designer on the Safety UX team, you will work closely with the UX Lead to execute design deliverables for in-flight tracks of work on both our internal tooling and safety touchpoints on the Reddit platform. We are looking for a highly motivated, communicative, and collaborative designer who can hit the ground running and work with both urgency and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of Safety UX
  • Translate complex ideas into elegant, scalable, and intuitive design solutions across both our web and mobile app platforms
  • Execute at every stage of the design lifecycle from ideation to delivery, balancing innovation with usability
  • Collaborate with other designers, product managers, engineers, and UX researchers with effective exploration, communication, and presentation to realize deliverables
  • Bonus: If you’ve got design system experience, apply that to the development of new patterns

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of work experience in UX/UI design, with an excellent portfolio showcasing UX and UI design work in complex systems 
  • Strong product sensibilities. Experience in safety or related functions is a plus, but not required.
  • Comfort with complexity and finding clarity in ambiguous situations 
  • Strong communication skills. Ideally, an inspired story-teller with strong written and presentation skills who is adept at bringing others along in their process for maximum buy-in and impact.
  • Humble, curious, and motivated to ship the best product
