Job description

Autism Speaks is seeking an Adult Services Project Manager to join our Lifespan Programs department.   

This will be a long term temporary project from January 2025 through December 2025.  Candidates who can work remotely and that reside in the Chicago area will be considered. The hourly pay rate for the project is $32.00.


The Adult Services Project Manager will support and execute Autism Speaks Adult Programs in Chicago. In this role, the Adult Services, Temp will support the Director of Adult Services in the development of resources, tools, and information for autistic adults, their families, and community. This role will help build a knowledge base of best and evidence-based practices in adult autism services, positioning Chicago as a national leader.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
  • Support Director, Adult Services in developing a network throughout Chicago to increase quality of adult services
  • Assist in development of digital and in-person training programs to increase capacity of adult autism service providers.
  • Develop resources, information, and tools to empower autistic adults and their families throughout the transition to adult services process and adult lifespan.
  • Continually monitor developments in adolescent and adult services and supports, throughout the U.S. and globally, with a particular focus on Chicago.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of adult services initiatives in Chicago in the areas of transition, housing and residential supports, transportation, & health & wellness.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support comprehensive services and support for adolescents and adults.
  • Represents Autism Speaks at local and state level, as needed.
  • Should be willing to travel occasionally throughout Chicago and Illinois.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in psychology, rehabilitation, education, social work, or a related field preferred.

Experience:
  • 1+ years’ working with people with autism, including young adults and adults, their families, and service providers.
  • Knowledge of autism, service delivery (private and public funding) across all levels of support.
  • Success with leading collaborative and innovative projects for adolescents and adults with autism.
  • Knowledge of transition and adult services for adults with autism, service providers, employers, residential supports, and local agencies

Specialized Skills and Knowledge
  • Written and verbal communication skills, with experience in creating clear and effective messaging.
  • Comfortable presenting to groups, with some experience in meetings and/or conferences.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to support the Director of Adult of Service with the creation and improvement of systems or processes.
  • Proficient in Office 365, social media platforms, and learning management systems, with a willingness to learn new tools as needed.
