Job description

About the Role:

SMT GB is seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Compact Equipment to lead our compact equipment division. This role will be crucial in driving sales and operational performance while ensuring exceptional customer service across our products. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance product offerings and market presence in the compact equipment sector.

 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Act as the liaison between SMT GB and the regional Dealers, fostering the relationship and conducting business review meetings.
  • Thoroughly evaluate Dealer Operating Standards to make important strategic decisions regarding sub-dealers.
  • Assist in enhancing dealer capacity and skill sets.
  • Establish and align sales targets while collaborating with dealers to formulate business plans aimed at achieving growth objectives and enhancing customer relationships.
  • Encourage and advance sales to National Account customers, participating in critical customer meetings and negotiations to drive sales growth.
  • Gain insights into the dealer landscape, their business environment, and the opportunities within the region, including tracking and reporting on competitor activities and Customer Relationship Management input.
  • Conduct regular business evaluations with dealers, agree on actions, and ensure timely follow-up, while sharing and promoting best practices.
  • Report on dealer sales, margins, and performance, including actions to facilitate improvements and forecast sales on a monthly basis. Provide detailed reports on sales activities and market trends in the region on a regular basis.
  • Manage pricing strategies for dealers and escalate any unresolved issues appropriately.
  • Develop and implement sales initiatives and campaigns targeted at Dealers.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, And Experience:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Proven track record in sales and operational management within the construction or heavy machinery sector, ideally in compact equipment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent analytical skills for market research and sales forecasting.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Understanding of financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Passion for delivering high-quality customer service and product excellence.
  • Experience in developing and implementing successful sales strategies.

 

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a senior management position within the compact equipment sector.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and innovations in construction equipment.
  • A degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related field
