Job description

Title:

Commissioning Manager

To provide advisory support to our clients during the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup of KBR licensed units for Refining processes (e.g., FCC, ROSE, K-SAAT, etc.), and ensure safe, efficient, and effective unit startups. This position demands frequent travel and extended presence at client sites worldwide, along with supporting KBR’s Engineering teams during BED, Post BED, and FEED project phases with your commissioning and startup expertise. As a primary interface with clients, this role requires strong technical, operational, and excellent communication skills to lead and support commissioning efforts effectively.

Roles & responsibilities and key requirements for this position are as below:

Roles & Responsibilities – Home Office:

Comply with all KBR home office safety and security requirements.

  • Develop Refining plant operating philosophy manuals in line with engineering designs.
  • Compile Refining plant analytical manuals.
  • Provide commissioning, operations, and maintenance related inputs during design engineering and PHAs.
  • Develop plant training material based upon engineering designs.
  • Conduct training sessions for plant owner's engineering, operations, and maintenance teams, both in-class and on-site.
  • Provide commissioning, operations, and maintenance advice to the KBR Engineering Team as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities – Job Site:

  • Adhere to all KBR and client HSSE standards and requirements.
  • Execute tasks assigned by the Lead Commissioning Advisor.
  • Participate in P&ID plant walk down activities independently or as part of a team and prepare punch lists.
  • Participate in the internal inspection of vessels.
  • Support, monitor and record plant pre-commissioning activities.
  • Support, monitor and record catalyst and desiccant loading activities.
  • Monitor and record catalyst reduction activities.
  • Monitor plant operations and provide guidance to the plant owner’s operations team as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve plant operational difficulties.
  • Work in shifts as directed by the Lead Commissioning Advisor and support client’s operations teams during startup of the units.
  • Prepare comprehensive commissioning and startup closeout reports.
  • Document lessons learned and provide feedback to the Engineering team.
  • Maintains effective communication with project team members, sales team, and technology leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
  • 20+ years of total experience with around 15+ years of operations, commissioning & startup experience of a world scale FCC, PRU, Treating units or other Refining technologies.
  • Experience with KBR technology is preferred.
  • Strong verbal & written English communication skills are a must.
  • Willingness to spend extended periods of time at client plant sites worldwide.
  • Prior experience of writing plant operating manuals.
  • Prior experience of preparing and presenting training materials to multi-disciplined groups.
  • Hands-on experience of Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Proficient with use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power point).

  • The Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) Contractor’s Engineering, Construction, and Commissioning Teams.
  • Field service personnel representing the Original Equipment Manufacturers.
  • Personnel representing the Construction and Commissioning Sub-Contractors present at the job site.
