Job Summary:
Provide primary legal support to Geisinger or any of its wholly-owned affiliates (collectively referred to as “System Entities” or “System”) by giving legal advice and counsel to their duly authorized directors, officers, employees, and other designated persons in order to assert, preserve, protect, maintain and monitor the legal rights of such entities.
Job Duties:
- Perform job duties and responsibilities as assigned to you by your direct supervisor and the Chief Legal Officer.
- Represent various System Entities as described herein by identifying, reviewing, analyzing and responding to appropriate legal issues confronting those entities including, but not limited to, antitrust laws, transactions, contracts, compliance, labor and employment, regulatory oversight, scope of practice, privacy and such other legal services that may from time-to-time arise.
- In accordance with the Model Rules of Professional Conduct, ensures that the actions of System directors, officers, employees, or other persons are within the best interest of the System so as not to be a violation of law.
- Supervise (and train as needed) Legal Assistants, Administrative Assistants, or Paralegals, as the case may be.
- Evaluate the appropriateness of utilizing outside counsel for specific projects or issues, determine the suitability of experience to effectively engage and utilize such resources, and act as the primary liaison to monitor performance.
- Comply with the Legal Service Department’s Standards of Professional Conduct and Performance as adopted and implemented by the Department from time to time.
- Render the following services of a general nature: prepare, review, revise legal instruments and contracts, provide oral and written opinions, create, review and revise System guidelines, policies and procedures, participate in various conference calls and meetings and sit on select committees.

At least 1 day/week in office in Danville, PA and occasional travel to other Geisinger sites and locations for meetings as required

Juris Doctor- (Required)
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years-Related work experience (Required)
Certification(s) and License(s):
License to Practice Law - Default Issuing Body, License to Practice Law in Pennsylvania within 6 months - The Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners
