IF ASSIGNED TO CAFETERIA/RETAIL: Thoroughly cleans all areas of the cafeteria including serving areas, tables, chairs, sweeping/mopping floors, counters, shelves, cashier stands, reach-in coolers, beverage area, and equipment as assigned. Provides excellent customer service: take food orders, serving food, and preparing food for all customers patronizing the hospital food service locations. Serves customers following proper portioning techniques. Takes and records food temperatures as directed and takes proper action if food is found to be out of proper temperature range. Operates a cash register following all Kaweah Health guidelines for cash accuracy, cash handling, and customer service. Assists with catering setup and cleanup as needed. Responsible for various food prep assignments. Stocks work stations routinely. Disposes of garbage according to department standards. Delivers patient trays if needed.

IF ASSIGNED TO COLD FOOD/CATERING: Responsible for all food prep which includes salads, sandwiches, and desserts. Follows recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, slicing and serving salads, sandwiches, fruits, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption. This food preparation will include operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables for culinary use. May be expected to taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment. May select recipes per menu cycle, prepare bakery items, receive, inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets. Performs Catering Assignments following detailed instructions on Catering Sheets, which may include preparing various food items, setting up room, replenishing various food items, and cleaning up after function. Delivers food/meals to Physicians Lounge for breakfast/lunch, replenishes as needed, maintains temperature control, cleanliness, supplies accurate food signage, and cleans up after the meals. Stocks with food supplies recording usages. Delivers food supplies to Kaweah Kids which would include operating a van, maintaining accurate records of supplies delivered, checking food temperatures for adequacy, and recording food temperatures on Food Temperature Logs. Minimizes food waste. Cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables and other equipment and to follow all Kaweah Health regulatory rules and procedures. Stores all products according to procedure.
