The Opportunity:
The Platform Delivery Manager leads a team of engineers in designing, building, and maintaining a robust, scalable, and efficient technology platform that supports the company's products and services. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring the reliability and performance of the platform, and driving continuous improvement and innovation. This cross-functional team has responsibilities to deliver platforms to core business units throughout the company using both Private and Public cloud resources.
Day in the Life:
- Lead and mentor a team of platform engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Work closely with product management, engineering, and operations teams to understand requirements and deliver platform solutions that meet business needs.
- Facilitate team meetings, set goals, and manage workloads to ensure timely project delivery.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's technology platform and ensure they are scalable, secure, and highly resilient
- Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, DevOps, and infrastructure management.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in platform technologies and processes.
- Align platform initiatives with business goals and ensure the successful execution of strategic projects.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of platform components.
- Implement and maintain robust monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes to ensure platform reliability and performance.
- Forecast future infrastructure needs based on business growth, project plans, and usage trends. Develop capacity plans that align with stakeholders to understand upcoming requirements and ensure that the infrastructure can support them.
- Provide direction and leadership to staff; guide, coach, mentor and develop staff ensuring compliance with processes and procedures.
- Handle interviewing, hiring, promotions, transfers, performance appraisals, compensation, counseling, and termination of staff.
- Develop and maintain staff by applying the necessary training and leadership that will allow internal growth and advancement.
- Direct staff, to ensure that all duties are performed according to department performance standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Seven (7) plus years of relevant experience with three (3) plus years in a senior individual level or supervisor role
- Experience as a Supervisor or Team leader or similar position in a previous role
- High-level contributors within their job area
- Ability to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in platform technologies and processes.
- Strong project management skills to oversee multiple projects and ensure timely delivery.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and cloud services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda).
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices including CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
- Knowledge of container technologies like Docker, OpenShift
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., PCI, GDPR, HIPAA).
- Experience with incident management and root cause analysis
- Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation
- Ability to manage/develop a departmental budget and identify areas for cost savings.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
