What You’ll Be Doing

As a member of CIBC’s Technology Architecture Governance team, will be responsible for providing advice and consultation for the governance of and end-to-end management for enterprise standards.  The role provides governance based leadership, interpreting complex information of technology and cyber and operational requirements into standard requirements.

The Senior Manager, Standards and Governance will work closely with various technology, cyber and business teams to guide the planning, development, and implementation of standards.  This role will lead in the development of new standards, leveraging industry best practice, process improvements that enhance client experience and reduce the risk for the bank.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Leadership – You will work with team members in setting goals and motivate members of the team to achieve them.  You can identify and remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful completion of actions and inspire change

  • Understanding Regulatory, Operational Risk and Industry Best Practices – work closely with internal and external partners to assess requirements and facilitate discussions to ensure needs and governance requirements are met

  • Continuous Improvement – Participate in, and support Lean Six Sigma in process improvement initiatives, through documentation, delivery and testing of enhancements relevant to in scope processes

  • Support Strategic Recommendations – Help with recommendations and assist with data and internal management consulting decisions

  • Build strong relationships – lead discussions, listen and ask questions to assure requirements are met as documented and govern sustainability

  • Problem Solving  – you can develop creative solutions and new ways of thinking about issues and opportunities

  • Champion risk / compliance / governance culture – support end-to-end compliance / risk as a subject matter expert, provide guidance to a diverse team of architecture and technology professionals.  Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational and process problems.   

  • Verbal and written communication skills -demonstrate ability to convey complex processes and issues, related to governance impacts as well as potential options and solutions.

  • Task Management – You have experience guiding and tracking standards to successful completion.  You can provide management with status updates, feedback and reporting with high quality presentations,
