Job description

Overview:

Cordoba is a leading civil engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Principal Engineer with hands-on experience in the design of water projects. The primary functions will be performing planning, engineering, design and cost estimating for water treatment and distribution projects. Project components may include pipelines, pump stations, storage tanks and treatment systems. This position will be responsible for the stamping of plans and engineering documents as required. The position will also lead the development and expansion of the potable water business unit. The ideal candidate will be proactive and excel in an entrepreneurial environment with limited support and guidance.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform planning, engineering, and cost estimating for water supply, treatment, and distribution projects
  • Develop the design of water infrastructure from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final design to produce plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E) bid packages
  • Ensure products meet scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements
  • Complete smaller projects independently and lead small teams of engineers to complete larger projects
  • Write, format and edit materials, including memos, reports and studies, independently with limited support
  • Represent respective projects at meetings with client, stakeholders and contractors
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships
  • Participate in updating the strategic plan for Cordoba Water Sector’s potable water division
  • Grow and develop contracts with existing clients and write proposals for projects with new clients
  • Develop processes, procedures and standards to ensure efficiency and quality
  • Train and mentor staff including interns and junior engineers
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; Civil Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 10-15 years of engineering and design experience with wastewater infrastructure projects is required
  • California Professional Engineering License (CA PE) is required
  • 2-5 years of experience supervising civil engineering teams is preferred
  • Experience developing and reviewing construction drawings for wastewater infrastructure, including pipelines and lift stations
  • Experience preparing specifications and cost estimates for wastewater infrastructure.
  • Good organizational and communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation for the design of civil infrastructure
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project

 

Pay Range:  $160,000 - $200,000 per year

 

Work Location: Remote with occasional travel for site visits and meetings as required (California residents only)

 

Travel: Up to 5-10% within the San Jose, CA area

 

Physical Requirements: Ability to climb stairs or ladders and walk on uneven surfaces or platforms to perform job walks

 

Visa Sponsorship: Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship
